Who is General Electric; why do
they help Michigan?
General Electric
is a corporation who owns many different businesses inside of itself. GE,
simplistically, is a manufacturer, and an investor. General Electric manufactures
parts that range from kitchen essentials to energy saving engines. They invest
in modern, more proficient technologies, which help them have a lead in the profitable
world.
One of the many
reasons they invest in Michigan is for the job opportunities. According to CBS’s
local news station, in 2012, General Electric announced to add 300 jobs to the Van Buren Township Advanced
Manufacturing and Software Technology Center. These jobs affect a huge
part of Michigan’s economic advancement, and I’m sure these jobs help support families.
Also, GE has expanded its summer internships for college students by 25% in
Michigan alone, so that would allow students to prepare and receive real life training
and experience.
Overall, General Electric
helps advance its partners and customers into a modern, more efficient way of
life, along with sustaining the knowledge needed to carry out the careers necessary
for future generations.
