Long Day by Richard Zarate

Today when I got here, Alex left me a task list on my desk. I had to mail out some postcards, update the mailing folders, save PO's to the network and sugar. I started by mailing out the postcards, there were a lot but it didn't take too long to finish. I updated the mailing folders, they were quick and easy. Then the long task came, saving PO's to the network and sugar. There were about 150 PO's so I started to work. You have to open the folder with the PO's and the scans folder. You have to open the PO and get the order number, then you search the order number on the network and drag the PO to the correct folder. It's a short process but it takes a long time when you have to do a lot of them.   After I dragged all the PO's to their folders, I went to lunch. After lunch, I started to save the PO's on sugar. This took a long time to do, but I got to finish by 2:00 PM. I went upstairs to help Ideal Contracting, I filed for them and help them organize s

Christopher Lara 9-25-14 Today at Ideal, I realized an important part of being proficient in this company. Prior to my past beliefs, I thought that having a great degree and attending school for many years decided your ability to complete tasks at Ideal, but what really helps is your experience.                 Having many years of experience, and a college degree, is what helps you get through the day at Ideal. An example would be comparing my first day here to my fourth day here. The first day, I was organizing hard dollar folders by number throughout six cabinets. Getting through a stack of about 20 folders would take me around 15-20 minutes. Now, comparing that to today, I only took about 2-4 minutes! A simple routine like this was tremendously shortened by several times of practice. What does this have to do with working at Ideal? Picture the same idea, getting through a task with experience, but with an array of companies to work with. Memorizing and learning what companie

Emma Flores September17, 2014               Today at work, I began stapling papers together for the human resource department. After I finished that, I started making labels to put on the envelopes. I also was filing and working on the computer to enter invoice processing for Ideal Setech. It was hard and confusing but I got the hang of it. Kelly was very helpful when I was struggling with vouchering but she explained it very well and easily so it wasn’t that hard to understand.             When I was done, I was helping Alex in marketing with getting information from places on a website for mailers. I needed to get the address, state, city, and the zip code. I hard to record all the information for Oakland, and Kansas and two others. Lunch was boring because I had nothing to do. I wasn’t hungry so I didn’t eat.   I instead played some card games on my phone.                  During my break I went to go talk to the lady next door to m

I did some quick filing for them. I continued a mailer list and later I finished and mailed them out. Sylvia ask me to help her put some stuff in her car, she asked me if I checked out Dartmouth College and I told her not yet. She told me that Frank talked to me about South Central Scholars because he sees good things in me. Sylvia told me that a lot of people have good minds, but don't take their feet to the right path. Later that day, Gary gave me a list and told me to search the prices on those items. Later, Amanda gave me some papers to bind.   After lunch, I continued doing the list, I checked out Dartmouth College and saw some great things. I went to go ask Amanda for my blog topic and she told me that I could choose my topic today.. I started doing my blog, I got pretty far. I went to go ask Amanda abou

When I got here, I said hi to Bindu, Dennis, and Andrea. I started off my day by updating the mailer lists, they were easy to do. Next, Alex gave me some labels and postcards, I had to put the labels on the postcards and mail them out. When I finished, I said hi to Amanda. I went upstairs to help Ideal contracting, Maria asked me to file some papers and folders. I went back downstairs and Alex gave me some scans to do, I worked on them until lunch.   When I got back from lunch, I finished up the scans. Later that day, Frank called me into his office, he talked to me about school. Osmara gave me some papers to organize, after I finished, I did dome mailers that Alex gave me. Later that day, Alex gave some more scans to do. While I was doing the scans, I notice they were the same ones I did this morning. Alex told me not to do them anymore. I continued doing the mailers that Alex gave me. Later I helped Amanda organize some supplies. Today was a great, productive day.   Who do I a

Chris Lara 9-4-14

Chris Lara 9-4-14 My first day began with meeting the members that make up the construction part of Ideal. I met people that worked on other job sites like Barton Mallow and the Warren Tech Center, people in accounting, and other employees that kept the Contracting cycle in motion. I enjoyed meeting the people I was going to work with. After, I went back to my original desk. The rest of my day was filled with detailed paperwork that kept my mind searching for inconsistencies. Chelsea had some filing to complete which had to be done in alphabetical order. When I was done with this, Maria had me work on my first auditing job. I compared invoices against waivers. This was done by making sure all the paperwork had the same company name or amounts. Doing these auditing tasks made sure everything was consistent, so the correct checks were cut and sent to their corresponding vendors. It has a big affect on many companies because they had to get the exact amount of money they were being

Emma Flores 9/3/14

The first day here was pretty good they made me file a lot but it was pretty easy. I meet a lot of people that I will be working with. They are very nice and funny they are not your typical workers. they joke around with each other. It was better then I thought it would be. I felt really comfortable with the people I was working with. They should me hoe to use the machines that will help me fold and how to send a letter. When I first got their I was scared but then I went to talk to a lady that was once in Cristo Rey that told me that the job is really easy and all you have to do is try and do  your best. She also was talking about how Cristo Rey has changed over the years. After that I went to the room right next to it and that's where Kelly and the other two ladies that where nice and  funny. Their also where two men their one of then where quiet and then other on was talking a lot with the other works but, they are pretty cool. In the end of the day one of they guys gave m

Back At School. By Richard Zarate

Today was the first day of school and I get to go to work. When I got here, I said hi to Andrea, Dennis, and Brad. I updated the mailer list and started doing mailers. When I was doing the list, I notice that some addresses were wrong, so I skip those. I went to go say hi to Amanda and talked to her and she reminded me that I have to do a blog. I went back to my desk and continued my work. At 12:00, I went to lunch.    During lunch, I showed Amanda a picture of Ayleen, it was her first day of school.  After Lunch, I went back to work. I Used Google and Jimmy John's website to help me on my task, another website gave me wrong information, which made me start over. I continued to work for the rest of the day.I'm glad to be back at Ideal Group and getting to work again. Today was a great first day of school.   What are my three goals for this school year? First, I want to get on the Honor Roll, I want to get into Honor Roll because Christopher and Jackie got on and I want to k
