Fridays

Today went by pretty quick and I was able to finish all my work.   I started my day by going up to the project manager’s, and getting my work done. I had lots to do so I had to get started fast. I started with the plotting that Tony had for me or the whole week. While the prints were coming out of the printer I multitasked and got some converting done in Blue Beam. When my prints were done, I headed downstairs and gave them to Abel so the shop had them to work on. While I was in the shop Steven had a spreadsheet to look for inventory that we needed for future jobs.   I was able to find everything and get all the paper work to Steven to put it in the system. When I went back upstairs it was time to go to lunch so I got my coat and went out with the guys. I was ready to get a really good bacon burger and a side of onion rings. When I came back from lunch, I went to the shop to talk to Abel about working Saturday and he said to come in at six. I was happy to hear that we were wo

TGIF!

Today was a great day at Ideal. I came in today and started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. It took me a while since it was a lot of folders. Once I was done filing I went to my computer and checked my mail. Bonnie wanted me to make posters for Jeans Day. I made one and printed a few. Bonnie told me to put them up Monday, so I put them on my desk. When I was done, I started to scan business cards for Bob. Lunch came and they brought pizza. I enjoyed it. When I was done eating, I continued scanning cards. Through out the day Bonnie wanted me to mail out invoices that needed to be signed. When I was done mailing them out, Frank wanted me to go to his office. I went downstairs but he was in a meeting so I waited untill he was free. He gave me a watch, which I loved. I always say that you got to love the people who take their own time on you, and I really do appreciate it a lot. I said thank you and went back work. Overall, my day went great. Jose Patino

Today when I got here, I said hi to Amanda and some other people. I went to my desk and checked my email. I did some mailers and when I finished them, I mailed them out. I went to go say hi to Sylvia and she told me that we were going to have another Merritt Neighborhood Clean Up. I asked Amanda for some more work, she told me to help Gary to do some DE-Doping. I did about 150, then it was time for lunch.   For lunch I had a sandwich, fruit, and some chips. I did some homework during lunch and then Sylvia came and told me about this book called "A Boy, A Burrito, And A Cookie." It's about a Janitor who turned into a executive by having a dream and making a phone call to his boss. Sylvia wants me to read it in a month and give my opinion.  I went back to work and started DE-Doping. I did about another 400. I read 2 pages of the book that Sylvia gave me. The rest of my day was great. So I have a new task and it's to read the book. My day was great and productive.

Chris Lara 2-25-14

Chris Lara 2-25-14             One of the most controversial topics of this month was the Winter Olympics. I find that the winter Olympics, held in Sochi, Russia, was one of the most wasteful investments of 2014. The cost it took to build, supply, and host the event was extremely high and put the whole country into debt.             The only reason to host the Olympics is to gain a tourism boom, and that’s what Sochi was planning for. Unfortunately, Sochi had the least percentage of people come to watch the live sports in over 20 years. One of the main reasons is because this under developed city in Russia has been through poverty, enrichment, and a neutral time phase in the last few decades. With the unattractive nature and stereotypes this city has, it’s no wonder an audience was not the only thing missing. Many reports of destroyed property, unused facilities, and violent riots were recorded during the two months prior to Sochi’s Olympics. I believe that the stereotypes and m

Jacqueline Perez - 2/24/14

Jacqueline Perez – February 24, 2014             Today has been a very good Monday at Ideal. It is my Monday rotation and I’m happy to be here tomorrow as well. I had a great variety of different assignments today. I filed paid invoices and non-paid invoices for Setech. Later on I sorted invoices by their shipping. In the morning I also wrote a reminder letter for the Dollars for Scholars fundraiser.             I had a great lunch today. I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with apple juice and cookies.  During lunch I also worked on my trigonometry homework. It finished it with the help of Christopher since I had gotten stuck on a problem. After lunch I sorted the mail and distributed to its owners. I filed again for Setech and opened Setech’s mail. Overall it was a great day.

Good Friday

My day went great today at ideal. I walked in and they told me they had my email ready. So, for almost four years I finally get one. I was excited I can’t lie, but I also needed for a job that Bob had me do, and in order to finish it I had to have an email. Bonnie showed me how to use it and at last I was sending Kevin he’s businesses card over email. When I was done with the cards Maria had material checks for me, so I did them right away. Lunch came and I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When I was done eating I continued working. I had invoices to found since I didn’t fond them, once I found the invoices I gave them to Maria and finished my task. Bob and I had a little talk before he was going out. We talked about getting me to work out to the field with Warren Tech this summer, after I heard that, I got pumped up and can’t wait for the summer to work, I’m looking forward to it. When I was done talking to Bob started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders, it was a lot t

Good Friday

Today was a very interesting day ay Ideal. I had plenty to do this morning so got my entire task list together and got them done one by one.   I started working using a new program we got called “Blue Beam.” I figured a way to be able to put the job number at the bottom of all our drawings.   After getting everything ready and to plot out I went to the printer. I printed all pages, stapled them and sent them out to the shop. It was almost lunch time but before we went on a lunch run Steven and I went on an inventory check outside. The floor was full of ice and it was really hard to walk on, but I was able to find everything and not fall on the floor. Afterwards, we went to Oblivion's and had a good time watching the hockey game. I had a Cajun Chicken sandwich which was great, with a side of onion rings. When I finally got back to the office I went to talk to Amanda about retaking my ACT and we agreed I had I get a higher score. I know if I study hard I can do better and ac

My day started of by doing some mailers for Amanda. I did them for an our and I went to go see Amanda. I said hi to Amanda and Gary came and Amanda introduced me to him. She told me I was going to help Gary by DE-doping some duplicated items .I got the hang of doing the DE-doping and I emailed Gary that there was a different mfg and he told me what to do. I did those until it was my lunch break. For lunch I had a sandwich, fruit, and chips.  After lunch I went back to DE-doping. I did some more and once in a while I took some short breaks. I emailed Gary again because there were 2 of the same mfg but one didn't have an "s" at the end. He told me they were the same and to make a change in the name. I did about 1,000. I got to learn something new today and my day was great.    The one thing that made me smile today are the people at Ideal Group. When I come in, I'm greeted. When I'm at my desk sitting, Dennis sometimes sings randomly, tells jokes, and makes funny

Chris Lara 2/18/14

Chris Lara 2/18/14 This day was very productive in comparison to my usual standards. When I arrived at my desk I sent Sylvia an email of my backlog. She wrote notes for my incomplete tasks and I began immediately. I thought that my tasks were going to be difficult, but when I completed them they weren’t very hard. Maybe because I become too intimidated at times, but that’s something I’m working on.          Intimidation stood a great threat to an event I went to last week. With Sylvia, I went to a MVP meeting for Detroit PAL. We were invited by Renee Peck, and I was grateful I was. Feeling intimidated could have ruined my night because the place was full of people! If I didn’t know how to talk to a small group or even one on one, I would have been ignored in the conversation. Before the event started, there was a small room where everyone was conversing and having a great time. Sylvia took me to meet some people and I talked to some new people. Luckily, I was doing okay wi

Jacqueline Perez - 02/18/14

Jacqueline Perez - February 18, 2014             Today had been a fantastic day at work. I filed some invoices in the morning for Setech. Later on, I vouchered invoices in Symix which took me the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon.  For lunch I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with apple juice it was pretty good I liked it. After lunch, I finished vouchering and helped Theresa match checks with check stubs.  Afterwards, I filed the invoices I had vouchered. Lastly I had my interview with Alex for the Group Scoop in the afternoon. The Group Scoop is a newsletter that is sent to everyone at Ideal. I was asked, what are things that I do in the accounting office and my life at school. I was also asked about the Dollars for Scholars program that I am in.

Today when I came in I went to my desk and checked my email. I went to go ask Linzie for work, but she had nothing for me. I went to go ask Amanda for some work and she told me to go ask Brad. I asked Brad for some work and he checked if he had anything for me to do. Amanda told me I could work on my presentation. I got far with my presentation and then I went upstairs to check if they had any work for me. I got sick some more when I was upstairs.   When I went downstairs, Linzie told me to do a mailer for her. I got half of it done, then it was time for lunch. I ate lunch for 25 minutes and then I did my English homework. After Lunch I went back to work, I finished the mailers in 30 minutes. Frank called me into his office and talked to me about school and if I wanted to work in the summer. I went to go see Linzie because I finished the mailers. She assigned me to do three more states. I finished them in a hour Linzie asked me to make them into labels. I didn't take too long.  I

Jacqueline Perez - 2/11/14

Jacqueline Perez - February 11, 2014             Today has been a good day because I learned something new.  I worked with Kelly and Theresa a lot today. First, I filed paid invoices for Setech, which took me all morning. Next, I took lunch and ate a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a side of carrots. After lunch, I helped Theresa with sorting and distributing the mail. I also filed again for Setech in the afternoon. Lastly, I learned how send out collections letter for customers that had past due invoices. There were a lot but I didn’t mind because it was something I enjoyed. I recently received my report card and I got a 3.0 which is really good, but I hope to do better.

Chris Lara 2-10-14

Chris Lara 2-10-14 One of the many strategies that The Ideal Group has taught me is to grow from my weaknesses.                  I began my day with my tasks that Sylvia gave me. Once I checked my emails, made phone calls, and created packages with flyers, I talked to Sylvia about my grades. I finished the first semester with a grade point average of 3.7 with A’s and B’s in all of my classes. I showed it to Sylvia and she began to scrutinize my report. She noticed something I did not; the grade between the two quarters was decreasing. This indicated a problem that was going to grow if I continued to work normally.                  She also noticed that I was doing worse on my finals than my quarter grades. She discussed with Amanda and I about what was going wrong when I took a test.   One of the main problems I came to was that I don’t study enough. I don’t study enough because I learn the material and think I’m going to remember it all. Sadly, this is a completely fals

Good Monday

Today went great. I came to Ideal saying hi to everyone upstairs. I knew I had a few things to finish from last Friday, so I got to work fast. I started doing the mail, it took me a while since there was a lot, the mail that I didn’t know who it belonged to I put aside for later so Terry could help me out. I was done doing the mail, but I still had to file PDPM and hard dollar folders, which also took me half of the morning. When I was done, I had to start scanning cards. Sylvia went upstairs and told Dave and I to go downstairs for lunch for a presentation that Tony had ready for us. Lunch came and Dave and I went downstairs to the conference room. We grabbed our lunch and started eating while Tony was talking to us. He was talking about how we had to be more organized and to make a folder where all your information about school can go there so it could help us a lot in the future. On the other hand, we had a good talk and a great lunch. Dave and I returned back upstairs and cont

Monday!

Coming to work on a Monday doesn't feel right since I usually work on Fridays. I came into work today in a great mood since I had a really good night's sleep the night before. I started my day by coming into the marketing office and putting down my coat. After getting everything ready for my day and checking my email I went upstairs.  I was surprised not to see Tony in his chair but the guys said he was home sick. I then went to work for Chris and printed out some drawings   When lunch came I had a meeting with Sean,Jose, and Tony about school and how to manage the process of being well organized. I learned a lot and couldn't wait to be ahead of everyone when it comes down to finding scholarships and applying to college. For lunch we had Mexican food and it was really good and I was happy that I didn't have to eat my school lunch.   After lunch I went back upstairs but there wasn't anything for me to do so I came to talk to Linzie. Linzie had told me to start on

Busy Friday

It was a busy productive day today at Ideal. When I went to my desk Maria told me to file PDPM and hard dollar folder, I knew it was going to take me a while since there was a lot to do. When I was done filing, I started to scan business cards that Kevin and Nick left me from last Friday, which took me all morning.             Lunch came and I got myself some chips and a drink. I was done eating so I just got to work, so I continued scanning cards. I had other things to do, so I put that task away for later. Bonnie wanted me to throw away some boxes that weren’t needed from Grainger, but then she decided to call them and ask them if they could take back the boxes. I went downstairs with the boxes and put them where usually UPS picks up the packages. I went upstairs and I saw a big pile of mails. I grabbed them and did them, once I opened the mail and stamped them I told Bonnie, Monday when I come I’ll file them, since I didn’t have enough time. Overall, my day went great. Jose

Friday Funday

Today was a great day at Ideal Group. I started out my day by saying hello to Amanda and having a talk about my grades. I was glad to see that she was happy for what I got but I know that I can do better. My plan for this card marking is to get at least a 3.5 GPA so that I am able to raise my overall GPA. I want to be able to get good scholarship so I also plan to get my ACT score up by a few points. I know that if I am really dedicated I can do my best and get the grades I am capable of.                   After talking to Amanda, I went to find a desk to work at and get myself ready for the day. I went to the project manager’s office and asked Tony and Chris if they had some work. Tony said he emailed me a few things to plot out so I headed back to my desk. I grabbed the thumb drive and downloaded all the files to print them out of the big printer upstairs.  When I went upstairs Bob called me to take a group picture of everyone that was wearing red.                 When lunch ca

Today, I got here at 10:30. I went to go say hi to Amanda and I asked her for some work. She told me to go ask Linzie for some work. Linzie told me to make some mailers. The mailers took time to make. After I finished with the mailers, I went to lunch. I used my Chromebook during lunch and I asked Amanda to sign a paper for me. Since I missed 2 work days, I have to make them up on the 14th and 17th of February. After my lunch break I told Linzie that I finished. She told me to go to Andrea for some more work. Andrea assigned me some more mailers.   I worked on the mailers and when I finished, Andrea told me to send them to her. I was given back my resume and I just need to make some few corrections. I went to go ask Amanda for some work, she told me she was going to make me do a presentation about me. She gave me another student's presentation, so I can get a good idea of what I'm supposed to do.I worked on my cover first. My day was slow, but productive. When the weather f

Chris Lara 2-4-14

Chris Lara 2-4-14             After my recent chemistry exam, Sylvia suggested that I find something that interests me in the subject such as a chemist or a career that requires a chemistry degree. I did some research and found one man that really caught my attention.             Born on 1943, Mario Molina is a modern chemist, and is well known for his theory of research concerning the destruction of the ozone layer. He was very interested in science when he was young and even took over an unused bathroom in his house as a laboratory for his science experiments. In college, he took many chemical engineering classes and received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. Later, he went to research atmospheric changes in a college in California. Soon, he found that the Chlorofluorocarbon gases that were being release went to the atmosphere were accumulating. Knowing that these gases are harmful, he wanted to know what happened to is once it stacked upon itself. This is when he formed the hypoth

Jacqueline Perez - The Beginning of the Fundraiser

Jacqueline Perez - February 04, 2014             Today was a very good day for me here at work. I got the whole company to help me fundraise towards college. I helped Kelly voucher today and I haven’t done that in a long time. I really like to voucher and it’s one of the many things I like about the accounting office. I also helped file as usual.             For lunch I had a strawberry and peanut butter sandwich provided by the school and ruffles that I got from the vending machine. I also looked over some homework that I wasn’t sure I completed correctly.             Today I came in with a small box that will be placed at Ideal and will be used to collect $5 for people wearing jeans on Thursday. The box will also be here all throughout February so more donations are raised. The money will go towards a program called Dollars for Scholars that I am currently enrolled in. The money will help me and other students alike fund our own scholarships that will be provided by the progr
