4/30/13

Today was long day, but it was fun. I came to Ideal and the first thing I did was the material checks that I didn’t finished yesterday. While I was doing them Chelsea handed me an envelope to put it in the mail. Then I saw Amanda and told me I was going with her to Cobo Hall to help set things up at 11am. So, I went back upstairs and I was trying to do the material checks as fast as I could. I was done so I went back down stairs and gave them to Rachel so she could sign them. I grabbed my jacket and I was waiting on Amanda to leave. We arrived at the place, it was pretty cool because I’ve never been at that building. We went where they were setting up everything and we started very quickly. I had to unwrapped bollard covers and all the supplies, we had in a big box. When we were done setting up the things and putting them in their spot we went to Jimmy Johns for lunch. It was a good meal and it was my first time to eat at that place. Today went by fast. I came in at Ideal and started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. When I was finished filing I went and made myself a cup of coffee to start off my day. When I came back from making my coffee I saw more folders so I had to file them again and again. When I was finally done with it I asked Patty if she had something for me to do, she had me file accounting folders. That was done so I went and ask Terry if she had something for me to do, so she had me put some receipts in order, it took me a while to do them. Lunch came so Chelsea, Patty and I decided to go to Louie's. I had a good meal. We went back to Ideal and I still took a little break since I was waiting on Patty to hand me work that she was suppose to give me. She came and handed me Executive weekly summary sheets. Busy Day at Ideal Group 04*26*2013

Today was a very busy day at Ideal. My day started when I asked Sean if he had any work for me to do. Sean asked me to pull the checks for Ideal Shield and then match and enter some invoices into MAS. It was a challenge finding some of the invoice due to the fact that Sean has a weird way of filing. Most of my morning went by and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I headed towards the fridge to get my school lunch and then went to sit down on Amanda’s desk since she wasn't here today. While I was at lunch I got a head start on my homework. I worked on a project for my English class and finished my essay for economics. I then decided to hear a little music to get my mind going on what I should do about me working at Ideal during the summer. I had lots of thoughts but still couldn't get my mind straight so I just went back to work. At that moment Silvia asked me to work on my logo for my family tree so, I did that before anything. Today at Ideal was a pretty cool day. At the beginning of my day I started off by continuing my price comparison list for Gary that he gave me a while back. The reason why its taking me a long time to finish this list is because it is really long. It has 3,000 inventory prices on it and I'm only on 800. So I'm not being lazy with my work just to let you know. I did that for the whole morning so it took me to lunch. At lunch I had an Italian sub and I worked on some of my essay that I have to do for English. After lunch I continued on the list. I also helped Linze in Marketing Director on how to make a mailer. Then I helped Chris's son out on how to stamp the mailers. Chris is the CEO of the company by the way. Well that was pretty much my whole day. The Ideal day. MB

4~24~13 : A Bluebird's Recycled House

Hello fellow reader. As I walked into Ideal today I saw Marty Venegas coming in and I greeted him. Then I walked to the ADMIN office and saw Sylvia and Amanda at their desks. I said, “Hello!” to both of them and we talked about our mornings. After, I checked into work and started to log onto my computer. After I logged on I was given a sheet that had my tasks written down by Sylvia. I liked how my day was planned out for me because I work better like that.                 After I read my list I talked to Sylvia about what was in store for me. Before going to the garden with University Preparatory Academy I was told that there were going to be some people coming in from the Kellogg Foundation to take some picture of me working at Ideal. They wanted some information on what the students from Cristo Rey do with the help of the Corporate Work Study Program. Today went by fast. I came to ideal and the first thing I did was file PDPM and hard dollar folders. When I was done with filing, Chelsea had me match invoices to their own folders, it took a while to finish. When I was done with the invoices there were more folders to file so I started to file them. I was done with all my task, so I went to Bob if he had something for me to do, so he had me put blueprints in a cabinet. It was a pain because there were so heavy and since I have a fracture in my knee it was hard to do. But I still I did it and it was finally done.            Lunch came and I brought lunch from my house. It was nothing big to eat, but it did fill me. I had my little break and I showed Chelsea, Julie and David my grades and how am I doing so far in school. They told me to keep it up and continue doing a good job. Today at Ideal the day went by pretty fast and I had of task to accomplish. Amanda gave me the best brownies in the world that made my day great. I started out my day by doing the prelim checks that I had worked on the Friday before. Thanks to Felicia's help I finished even faster than I thought. After, I worked on some filing and matching invoices for Jennifer until lunch time came. At lunch I had the usual peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the side of gold fish. I then asked Sean to help me with my math homework since I was struggling with it.             After Sean had explained to me how all the formulas work I got the hang of it was. I was sure that I know how to do it. After lunch, Linzie called me into her office and gave me a few tasks to do. I had to make a list of stores in different states on an excel sheet. After a while I got the list ready for Linzie and headed back to her office. She said I did a great job and gave me another task.             I made an inv

Ideal Friday

Pulling into the Ideal Group parking lot, I noticed that Sylvia’s car wasn’t parked in her spot. I walked into the building and the Admin office lights were off and I started to think that no one was working today. As I kept walking down the hall, the accounting office was open so I knew someone was here. As soon as I went in through the door, I saw Amanda’s bright green pants and Theresa so I properly said good morning. Amanda told me that Jennifer wasn’t going to be here for half of the day so to go look for Sean. I went to the sales area and found him sitting at a desk, but told me to look for Kelly. Kelly was back at her old desk and told me to get started on the filing and soon after start billing. I went to the back room in order to file. So its been a couple of days since Catherine has left the Ideal group and its been different because I  don't have work set up for me when I first come in, but I just go around and ask other people for work which isn't a problem with me. When I first got in I continued the work that Gary set up for me from a couple of weeks ago. I was working diligently on that while lunch came around. At lunch I had some hot pockets and Mike, from sales, helped me out a bit on my chemistry work that we're doing in class. After my lunch I continued working on Gary's work from Ideal surplus. I got A LOT done. At the beginning of my day i had about 275 done. At the end I had 500 done. I reached my goal for the day. Now I only have 2,500  more to do until I'm finished with everything. That was the Ideal day. P.S. In school for this week my goal is to get at least an A on one of my chemistry worksheets in class because that would make Michael very proud of me knowing that he helped

4~17~13 : Managing a Team

I went into the office today already knowing that I was going to work in the garden. Last week Sylvia told me that I was going to manage some kids from the University Preparatory Academy Partnership that were coming to Cadillac Urban Gardens and Scarcyny Park for volunteer hours. When I walked into the office I saw Amanda and she told me to get ready. I went to the bathroom and changed my clothes so I wouldn’t get my school uniform dirty. I went back to the office and left to the park with Amanda. Amanda and I conversed in the car while we went to the garden about school. Then I saw Sarah Clark and she led me up to her office. I went to her office for the first time so it was a cool experience. Then she gave me a copy of the task list I was going to get through. The list consisted of a trash sweep, cleaning up a lot across the street, spreading compost, and making a tool inventory for Scarcyny Park. Today went great. I came to ideal and started off filing PDPM and hard dollar folders. When I was done I went to the kitchen to make my self a cup of coffee to pump up my day. Chelsea had me match up invoices with their folders, it took me a while to do them. When that was finished I started to do the material checks, I usually do them every Tuesday I come. When I was done with the material checks I started to pull up folders for Rana. We went to lunch late, so we went to BK to get myself a burger. We went back to Ideal, ate my lunch and started to do my algebra homework. When my homework was done started to help Pattie, I was putting certificate papers in a folder. Today at Ideal was cool. I started off my day by helping Amanda bind some presentations for a meeting with Vivian Pickard at GM. I helped them out a lot. Now they can be organized and have all the things we sell right there in a binding. After that I continued to work on the price comparisons that Gary gave me last week. I actually got a lot of that done today which I was proud of. Right before lunch Sylvia asked me to help her set up a lunch for Vivian Pickard. At lunch time Mike, Dennis, the new guy to the office Brian in marketing and I went to lunch together. It was cool just to hang with the guys. After lunch people asked me to do little small task around the office for them and I was still working on Gary's stuff. That was pretty much my whole day. MB

Today At Ideal

I walked into for the first time in two weeks it was nice to see everyone again. When I walked into the door Amanda wasn’t in her office but then I saw her in a meeting inside the conference room. Knowing that we could not have our morning conversation I headed towards the Accounting office. When I went into the room I told everyone good morning and asked Jennifer what I should start on. She said to start on the billing for this week, so I started on my task.             While I was working on the billing I decided to get some coffee to keep me up and running. When I went into the kitchen I saw Amanda and decided to walk into her office to chat about my school work and how she was doing. After, I headed back to my desk and finished the billing. When I was finished I asked Jennifer what to do next and thought that I should get started on the check run. My day at Ideal was different today. Catherine and Doug weren't here today so it was just me running the office. Since Catherine couldnt give me any work to do I went around the office to see if anybody needed my help. Virgina in sales asked me to file some new PO accounts for her. That was a pretty easy job because there wasn't that many to do. After that Sylvia instructed me to clean up the marketing office a little bit. When I was finished Gary from Ideal Surplus asked me to compare the prices of our products to our competitors on Ebay. I did a few of those and then I went off to lunch. At lunch me and Mike from sales went to the B building where all our innovatory is located. That was pretty cool to see all of the bollards and stuff. When we came back I got right to work on Gary's stuff. This was a longggggggggg list so I didn't get a chance to finish it, but next week I'll be sure to finish it. Till next week keep it Ideal.

2~10~13 : A meeting with SHPE

My walk into Ideal today wasn’t regular. I wasn’t feeling good and my allergies were acting up. Even with these punishments bothering me I still walked into Ideal with a smile on my face and a fresh mind for thinking. I walked into the ADMIN office and saw Amanda Schmidke.   She was looking very professional and made the room light up. I took my seat and checked my e-mail. My inbox was very empty since I had just been here two days ago. The only mail I received was from Sylvia. She sent me a small task list to complete during her arrival here. I was to unload the dish washer and make some spreadsheets for inventory. I got started on these two small tasks and was complete. Sylvia was in the office by this time and she gave me some other things to do. While I completed one task she gave me another, and this happened repeatedly. The things she wanted me to do were small tasks and shouldn’t take more than ten to fifteen minutes to complete. I worked my way up to lunch and before I was g
