TGIF

Today was a good Friday at Ideal. It felt like I haven’t been here for a while, since I didn’t work last Friday. I first started filing insurance papers for Bonnie. Then I went downstairs with Amanda, we had a good talk about school and life. When I went upstairs, I was done filing, Maria told to file some PDPM and hard dollar folders. I was done, then Bob and Kevin wanted me to scan business cards for them. Kevin gave me 40 of them and Bob gave me a folder with a lot of cards, I knew it was going to take me all day so I got started as soon as possible. Lunch came and I wasn’t that hungry, so I went to machine down the shop and got me chips and a drink. I took my lunch and a little free time. It was time to get going so I continued scanning cards.   Today when I arrived here I greeted Linzie and Amanda. I asked Amanda for some work and she assigned me to do some labels. I did the labels and printed them out. While I was putting the labels on the postcards, we ran out. I told Amanda and she told me she was going to order some more. Amanda asked me if I can pass out the 2014 Chairman Vision & President's Priorities magazine to the first and second floor. After I finished, I mailed out the postcards that I finished, and I showed Amanda my resume. She told me that I needed to do some changes.  I ate lunch for only 15 minutes and I started fixing my resume. After I finished fixing it, I took it to Amanda ans she told me she was going to check it. I went upstairs to check if they needed help. i started to do some filing and when I finished, Bonnie asked me if I wanted to file some different stuff. I said yes and she showed me how to file by job numbers. I did it fast and Bonnie gave me some chocolate.My day was very productiv

Today, when I got here, I mailed out the postcards from last week. After I finished I went threw my email. I went to go ask Amanda for some work and she assigned some mailers to do. The mailers only took an hour to do. Later Amanda came and asked me to change the poster on a frame. After I finished changing the poster, I finished the mailers and put them on postcards and sent them out. Then it was time for lunch.  I gave my sister some money to go get us some tacos for lunch. I ate my lunch quick and I was bored, so I asked Amanda if I could have a short lunch break. She told me yes and she asked if me and Osmara could clean the conference room and clean Frank's awards. We cleaned the awards on the shelf, then the one's by the window, then we cleaned the tables.  After we finished, we cleaned  Frank's bathroom. We took out the candles and we put them in the cave. Chris Lara 1-21-14

Chris Lara 1-21-14 I began the day with come quick tasks created by Sylvia. I first revised the jobs by priority, then time cost. I noticed that there were some tasks that were ‘Thank You’ letters that had to be created for the meeting last week. That’s when my memory sprang into action by having to recall last Tuesday.             Last week, I had the opportunity to join the Supplier Partnership Meeting at GM. I went mainly to present Cadillac Urban Gardens and its sustainability practices. But that wasn’t the only thing I was interested in. Although my part was important to me, I liked hearing the ways people are integrating sustainability in their lives and work place. I personally think that all companies should host a meeting like this one.             I had to write a ‘Thank You’ letter to the people who invited me like John Bradburn, Steve Hellem, and Jeff Bobeck. 01/17/14

Today was a productive day. I started by doing material checks in the morning. I was surprise it wasn’t a lot this time, but I finished them early. Then I took them to Rachael, but she wasn’t in her office, so I went up stairs and put them aside for a while. Bob wanted me to scan his business cards, so I had to install it in my computer, it took me a while to get it done.             Lunch came I went downstairs to the conference room with Jose. I wasn’t that hungry so I just got chips and something to drink. We had good talk for a while, but it was time to get to work.             I went upstairs and started to file invoices from last week. It was a lot to do but I finished them all. I also filed insurance for Bonnie since she left early in the day. Overall, my day went great.             Jose Patino

Its the Weekend

I love working on Fridays, not only because my day goes by fast and the weekend is coming up but because I always have a great time at work. I started of my day by going to the Project Managers office and being my work. I had to convert a bunch of files to PDFs. I then went to lunch and it was nice of the guys to buy pizza so I had a full stomach all day.   At lunch I had a nice conversation with Jose Patino about our future and where we would be in a couple of years. We told each other that no matter what we will finish school and become successful in our lives.When lunch ended, I went back to work and printed a few drawings for Steve so that he could send them out to the shop. Overall my day went great and I couldn't ask for a better job.

 Today when I went to my desk, I saw that Alex wasn't here, so I went to go ask Amanda for some work. She assigned me mailers to do. I started to work on the labels.  I went to go ask Amanda a question about the mailers and I continued to work on the labels and then went to lunch. I only took a 45 minute lunch break and I went back to my desk and started to write my blog.   After my lunch break, I continued working on the mailers. I printed out the mailers and put them on the postcards. I was about to stamp the postcards but it had low funds.I asked Sylvia for some work and she told to put some flyers of the garden in piles of ten and give them to Bonnie. My day was slow, but productive.   What is my favorite book? My favorite book is Frankenstein. I read the book this year for English class. At first I thought the book was going to be boring, but it was actually good. The story Frankenstein starts with a character name Robert Walton writing letters to his sister about his journ

Chris Lara 1-14-14             In the morning, I was intrigued by Jesse’s presence and went to talk to him. He told me the reason he was going to work in the office in Detroit, which gave me an Idea of what he was working on. Then, he explained the importance of Microsoft Office and all the functionalities. I have already experimented with most of Microsoft Office, but I’m not an expert.             Sylvia shared a document with me that was going to be used for the Supplier Partnership meeting at GM tomorrow. I looked it over and improved a few slides. On the bottom of the screen were notes. I followed the instructions of the notes while taking into consideration why I was changing the slides. I noticed the pictures were blurry because of an effect that was implemented. I knew that the person that worked on this before wanted a white border. But that’s not all of what was happening. Jacqueline Perez - Working for Contracting

Jacqueline Perez – January 14, 2014             Today has been a great day for me here at Ideal. I had the chance to work with people that I have never worked with. In the morning, I worked with Theresa and mailing envelopes. After helping her, I went upstairs and worked for Ideal Contracting.  I have never worked upstairs and I’m glad I did because it was great experience. I worked with Terry and Chelsea. I helped them match up invoices with the shippers and I also organized Home Depot receipts by date and then PO number. I enjoyed what I did today and hope to work upstairs again in the near future.

Chris Lara 1/13/13 Today was a very organized day. Today, my tasks were organized and planned out. When I walked into the office, I began my work and was satisfied. I began on a sheet that described my goals, achievements, and objectives for the 2013 to 2014 year. I hit all the key points on which Sylvia was asking for and showed her my final result. She talked to me about it and gave me suggestions and tips on how to improve. We discussed the information and I took notes. After, I worked on my part of the presentation for the meeting on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Sylvia, Osmara, and I will be going to a General Motors Supplier Partnership meeting concerning the sustainability in and out of the company. We were invited to this meeting because of our work with recycling many materials in the garden and the garden bins themselves. I worked on some flyers that were going to be passed out. Jacqueline Perez - Full Day Back

Jacqueline Perez - January 13, 2014             Today is my full day back to work after Christmas break. I was here last Tuesday but I left early because of the weather. I missed coming to work and seeing my co-workers. Today I worked with different people that I won’t usually work with.             In the morning I worked with Jennifer and I filed for Warren and Defiance. Later on I worked for Sylvia and put seeds in envelops with the help of Christopher. As soon as I finished that I took my lunch. I ate a peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwich with a side of crackers. After lunch, I filed a little bit and then helped Theresa with filing checks into binders. Finally I scanned credit memos and credit applications.

Friday!

Today was a pretty good day. I really wasn’t feeling good today so I tried to suck it up and get through the day. I really didn’t do a lot of tasks but it kept me busy at least. I walk to my desk and I saw my check since I worked my vacation days and dedicated my days off working. I put the check aside and I started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. When I was done, there were invoices to file. Everything from 2013 invoices folders got filed away so since all this invoices were from 2014 I had to make new folders for them. It took me a while to get it done. Lunch came and I wasn’t really hungry, I wasn’t feeling good so I didn’t have any appetite. I just went to the machine down to the shop and got something to drink.
