When I got here I went to my desk and I notice my computer was gone. I waited for Sylvia to get here because she was going to give me some work. I was walking around and Virginia told me what was I doing. I told her I was waiting for Sylvia. She told me to go to the accounting office to do some work until Sylvia came. I did some filing and when I finished Sylvia came. She told me she didn't have any work for me. She took me to Andrea for some work and she gave me mailers to do. I started doing the mailers until it was lunch.  For Lunch I had a sandwich, applesauce, and yogurt. After Lunch I went back to work on the mailers. I worked on the mailers for another hour and I finished. I asked Alex if she could help me make labels. After I made the labels I went to tell Andrea that I finished . She told me to put the labels on postcards. I asked Alex if we had different postcards. Alex took me to the cave to get some more.  I got some more postcards and I asked Andrea which one she wan

Jacqueline Perez-October 29, 2013

Jacqueline Perez October 29, 2013 So far today it has been a good day here at Ideal. I worked with Jennifer, Kelly and Sean today. They gave me plenty of work which helped the day go by faster. I had matched some Drop Ship Pos with their invoices for Sean. I did some filing for Jennifer, and Scanning for Kelly. For lunch I had the schools lunch, which was a ham sandwich with orange juice, since I forgot to make myself a lunch last night. I listened to music and ate in the conference room with Christopher.  For most of the day I have been thinking about my filed trip tomorrow to Eastern Michigan University. I have been interested in that college for a while and it will be my first time going there. I hope I like it and for my senior year get accepted.

Monday Monday Monday!

Being Monday, It was awkward coming to work. It always feels nice that the weekend was coming after work, but not today. I went to my desk and checked my email; I had to plot out some drawing for Chris but first had to find them on the bid website.  Usually I have a hard time finding all the documents but this time it was a piece of cake. I then went to print them out and gave them to Chris.                 After I took lunch hour and enjoyed my wonderful lunch and had a good talk with Jose. After lunch, I went back to do my work and realized that I had an email from Tony, he wanted me to finish a work sheet he had gave me a while back. I got it done right before work ended and felt great knowing I finished all of my work.

Monday

Today was a good day at Ideal. I started my morning filing invoices that were on my desk. It took me a while since it was a big pile. But first I had to put them in alphabetical order so that way I could do it quick. When I was done filing I went to look at Bonnie desk if she had some invoices to mail, there was one so I went ahead and did that. I went to Terry if she had something for me, she had me put Home Depot receipt in order by job number.             Lunch came and I went downstairs to the conference room to join Perez, like usually. We had a good meal and later Sylvia came and told us to go to the garden to pick up some vegetables and save money at stores. Overall, lunch went great but it was time to work.             As soon as I went upstairs I saw more invoices on top of the cabinet, and what I figured out was the all of the invoices that were on top didn’t have folders, I went to grave folders and began doing them. Once I was done, the mail came, I started opening the

TGIF!

Today I came to Ideal ready to work. I started by filing invoices that were on my desk. When I was half way done, Maria told me that the material checks were ready. I started doing the material checks as soon as possible because it was a big stack and I knew it was going to take me a while to finish them.             Lunch came and there was pizza in the kitchen, they were leftovers from yesterday. I got two slices of pizza, two chicken wings and a stick bread with sauce. Jose Perez was downstairs, he was having lunch at the conference room so I decided to join him. We had a good talk and talked about plans for the weekend. Amanda came and we had laughs for a while.             Jose and I went upstairs, it was time to work. They were PDPM and hard dollar to file so I went and did them. Bonnie had invoices to mail, I went ahead and did that too since she needed help. When I was finished with all my tasks I went and did the mail. Overall, my day went great. Jose Patino

It's Friday

Today was a very long day. Coming into Ideal is always exciting for me so I try to get to my desk as fast as possible.  I went thought my email and found that Amanda had some forms for me to sign so that’s what I did first. After, I went upstairs to talk to the guys in the Project Manager Office to see if they had any work for me. I was given a few tasks at first but I finished it in no time. After a while everyone started to give me tasks and I couldn't figure a way to get anything so I took a break and went to lunch.                 I had a good time at lunch. Mike Jose, and I had a talk about our plans this weekend. A while later Amanda came into the room and we talked about our grades I was happy to say that I had nothing lower than a B. During lunch I decided to go online and check the weather so I can take my dog out for a walk. When lunch came to an end, I went back to my desk and tried to figure a way to finish all my work.                 I started to multitask and k

My day started off by doing some scans. While I was doing some scans, Alex told me to put some letters in some envelopes and stamp them. It took me about 45 minutes to finish them. I went back to my desk to finish the scans. Mike told me he was going to give me a topic to write about on my blog. I went to Sylvia for some work and she wanted me to get the magazines from Frank's desk that were old and she wanted me to put them in a box. When I finished I told her if she wanted me to do something else and she told me to get the magazines from her desk , put them in the box ,and to take them to school's library. I went back to finish my work and then it was lunch. I had a sandwich, fruit, yogurt, Cheetos, and soda. When lunch was over Osmara asked me if I wanted to be in the safety meeting. I waited in the conference room for 10 minutes and Osmara comes back saying the meeting is cancelled. I go back to my desk to write my blog. While I was writing my blog Frank comes and starts

Chris Lara- 10/21/13

Chris Lara- 10/21/13 Today’s events were scattered . I entered the office at the same time Amanda did. She sat at her desk and began working immediately. I was shocked on how fast she could get down to business, so I tried to do the same. I checked my email and began on the tasks Sylvia gave me. I had to send a message out to the viewers of Cadillac Urban Gardens (CUGM), send emails for guest information, and send a message to Sarah Clark concerning the tomatoes at CUGM. First, I sent a message out to all the people I could describing the great tomatoes and peppers we have at the garden. I even included a tomato relish recipe. Then I sent some emails to guests for the DHDC Gala. I had to retrieve some information of the guests that will be coming for logistical purposes. Once I sent those out, I moved onto the email for Sarah. I sent an email to Sarah describing a certain task Sylvia wants completed. Sylvia knew the weather was becoming colder so she wanted the tomato

Jacqueline Perez-10.22.13

Jacqueline Perez-October 22, 2013             Today had been an extraordinary day so far. This morning was a little weird though because I didn’t have my usual morning routine. Here at Ideal the day has gone by fast. I had a good lunch and a lot of work today, but I’m not really complaining since it keeps me busy. This morning was a little different than most. It was a little hard getting up this morning to come to work, since nobody from school except sophomores came today. My older brother slept in today but I had to wake up early and get ready like any other school day. I also have a sore throat so I made myself some tea this morning as well. It felt like it was a really short day at work. I believe it’s because I had plenty of work. I worked with Jennifer today and I vouchered, filed and completed some Setech billings. I also did something new in a program called Citrix and saved some invoices. For lunch I had soup to help my sore throat and some carrots on the side.

Friday!

I came to Ideal ready for work. Maria, the new intern, was unpacking her stuff where Chelsea used to sit. They told me that Maria was going to move here in the office and Chelsea was moving where Terry’s office is. The first thing that Maria gave me was material checks, I made copies of the checks and started as soon as possible. When I was done , I took them downstairs and handed them to Rachael. When the material checks were done, I filed invoices from last week. When I finished, I helped Bonnie file some of her invoices.             Lunch came and I went downstairs to the conference room. Jose wasn’t there yet so I started eating while I was waiting for him. We had a good talk about homecoming tonight. Lunch was over so we both got up and started working.                Bonnie had invoices to mail out, she asked me if I could do them very quickly. When I was done there were PDPM and hard dollar folders to be filed, It took me a while since it was a lot of folders. I was done

Its Friday

Today I came into Ideal a little tired but still full of energy. I was at the Tigers game the night before and had a great time. Amanda called me into her office and asked about my grades. I told her that I was doing very well and planning to keep it that way. After my talk with Amanda, I headed towards the project managers office and Tony gave me a few things to plot. I went to the printer and printed what I need. Afterwards I went to update the Active Jobs folder and got everything organized. Lunch soon came so I went downstairs.                 At lunch, I sat with Jose Patino and we talked about homecoming today. We both decided that we would go and have a good time. For lunch I had a ham sandwich and cookies. At the end of lunch I felt full but Osmara offered me a taco and I still managed to finish it. After lunch, I went to the accounting office and helped Amanda make some folders. Overall my day went great. Jose Perez

A very good day by Richard Zarate

Today was a good day. When I got here I went to Alex for some scans. She assigned me some Drops and Po's. I started to do them and later Mike told when I finished, I was going to do something with the postcards from Monday. After I finished I told Mike and he said he would tell me what to do when he comes back. I waited for 3 minutes and I decided to go to Amanda for instructions. I went to Amanda for instructions and she told me to check how much it cost to send a postcard. Right when she was telling me Mike comes and says he was looking for me. Amanda said that I told her that Mike didn't tell me what to do. I went back to my desk to check how much it cost to send a postcard. I checked online and it said 33 cents. I checked another website to make sure and it said 33 cents too. Mike told me to send the link to Amanda and when I was going to send the email to her Mike typed "  Mike says do some work, stop making my sister do everything. I went to Amanda to tell he

Chris Lara 10-15-13

Chris Lara- 10/15/13 Today was educational . I entered Ideal today with an accurate idea of what I was going to be doing. I received an email from Sylvia telling me that a reporter named Nancy Szerlag was coming to Detroit to write a story on Cadillac Urban Gardens. I prepared myself by printing information about the garden and set my tasks for the day.             I was to check my email, correct business card information, re-address an envelope, and write a short summary of three experiences I learned while in the garden. I began immediately while the office was quiet. I finished the small tasks and then moved onto printing out the garden metrics for Nancy.             I printed out all the info and waited for Sylvia and Nancy. When they arrived I greeted Nancy as politely as I could. I couldn’t wait to talk to her about my experiences in the garden. We sat in the conference room and talked about how I got involved and what we grow in the garden. Soon, Frank walked in an

Jacqueline Perez-10.15.2013

Jacqueline Perez October 15, 2013 It was a pretty interesting day here at Ideal. Only Kelly, Teresa, Sean and I were in accounting. Teresa and Kelly kept me busy throughout the day. I had ‘mole’ for lunch, which I think was the highlight of my day. I also had one of my contacts irritating my eye throughout day. This morning I filed for a little bit and worked with Kelly. She had me voucher, which is processing invoices. While I worked with Teresa I sorted out sales tax exempt certificates and checked to make sure they were scanned. Both tasks took me quite a while but I got it all completed. I spent my lunch alone today since everyone left and I was alone for most of the hour. To eat I had ‘mole’ which is a typical Mexican dish, my mom had made it last night for dinner so I brought in what was left. So far work today has been great.

This is my second Monday working for Ideal Group. When I got here, I waited for Alex to get here so I could ask her for some work. She gave me some Po's to do and some Picks. After I finished I was going to go to Amanda for some work but she wasn't there so I ask Sylvia for some work and she told me to check the spelling on a flyer. When I got back to my desk Frank started messing with me. After I checked the spelling Sylvia told me to call the SDEV group so they can pick up the flyers. I had to use the work phone and I was kind of nervous. After I called I went to go sit near the entrance to wait for the person to come pick up the flyers. After they picked up the flyers I went to Sylvia for some work and she told me to put flyers around the building. I took only ten minutes and after I finished I went to lunch.  For lunch I had a sandwich, cookies, melon, and candy. I ate lunch for only 45 minutes and I used my phone for 15 minutes. I started working on my blog and later I we

10/11/13

Today was a productive day at Ideal. I began filing PDPM and hard dollar folders, it took me a second to file them. When I was done I saw a stack of invoices sitting on my table. It was a big pile so it took me a while to do them. Once I was done filing, Chelsea had material checks for me to do and I started right away. Once I was done, there were 4 checks that needed invoices attached to them, but since Terry is on vacation I let the checks sit there until Monday so she could see them. The other checks were left at Rachael’s desk since she left Ideal early. Lunch came and I went downstairs with Perez, there was one slice of pizza left, so I took it. We had a good talk with the new intern upstairs about what college is like and plans we had. Then it was 1 o’clock so it was time to work again. There was more PDPM and hard dollar to be filed so I went and did it. When I was done I asked Kevin if he needed help on anything, he put me to work archiving some folders that he had in

Walking into the building I could tell it was going to be a busy day. I started out by talking to Amanda about my grades and how school was going. I told her everything was going well and then headed towards my desk. Tony emailed me about some drawings that had to be printed so I went upstairs to get the job done. On my way up the stairs I saw a few people and stopped to say hello. I went to the printer and found that the paper needed to be changed as usual. I changed the paper and gave the drawing to Tony.                 At lunch I had pizza with the guys from the shop. We had a great time talking about the Tigers game last night and how great it felt that it was Friday. When lunch ended I went back to my desk and got the whole office organized. We had lots of piles of paper everywhere and I had to get rid of it somehow. I looked at all the recycle bins but they were all full so I just decided to put them on the side of the bin and kept on going with my day.                 I w

When I got to Ideal today I started working on some PO's and Picks. Later I stamped a package for Dennis ans I started doing some BOL's. While I was working my sister told me she needed me to package letters. After I helped her I went to Amanda and asked for some work and she assigned me mailers to do. She wanted me to put all the Motion Industries of the states that are in the west. After I finish I sent her the mailers and went to lunch.   For lunch I had goat, applesauce, cookies, and water. I only ate lunch for 30 minutes and I started doing my homework. I got to finish my Latin and Theology homework. After Lunch I went to Amanda for some more work and she told me to finish the mailers for her .  I started doing the mailers and then Frank came and he started to mess with me and started poking me. While I was working my eyes started to hurt and I went to take a quick break. I drank some water to help me and then I went back to work. The mailers were long but I didn't g

Chris Lara 10-8-13

Chris Lara 10-8-13 My day was smooth and productive . I began the day by checking my mail and organizing the mess on my desk. Once my desk was clean, I saw some information on what I was going to be doing today. Sylvia sent me a couple of names of people and a standard letter. I was to redo the standard letter and include the names of the people and the companies they worked for. There were only four in total, so I didn’t have a problem. After, Sylvia suggested that I send out an email talking about Cadillac Urban Gardens to others to remind them that it is still open. In the email I described what was ready and what hours the Garden was open. I tried to be informative and brief at the same time to ‘grab’ the reader’s attention without them getting bored. When I was done, Sylvia told me to mail a letter out to some more people. The letter was an invitation to Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation’s Gala event. I sent it out to different people and their companies as

Jacqueline Perez-10.08.13 :)

Jacqueline Perez October 8, 2013             Similar to yesterday, I had a great day here at Ideal. I worked with Jennifer, Kelly and Sean today. On top of that I had to help people in the office print because the computers  wouldn't  let anyone print except Amanda Kowalski and me.              Today I helped Jennifer with filing and entering invoices in the Chrysler website. With Kelly I did electronically scanning, something that I have never done before. I helped Sean with Drop Ship PO’s that I did need some help with since I  hadn't  done them in a while. So I was kind of busy today but I got everything accomplished.             For lunch, I had a chicken sandwich with carrots and tomatoes that Sylvia and Chris picked from the Cadillac Urban Garden. I do plan on bringing my mom to the garden and getting some vegetables. I have taken my family there a couple of times and they seem to enjoy going and picking out some of the fruits, vegetables and the lovely flowers. It

Chris Lara 10-7-13

Chris Lara- Blog 10-7-13 Today’s work day was very interesting and productive . I started my day by checking my mail and greeting Sylvia and Amanda. Sylvia talked to me about some small tasks I was going to be doing in the morning. She told me about some expense reports and packages I had to complete. These were some easy tasks, so I began immediately. The expense report was just a report of all the receipts that a specific person has from a certain event. Sylvia gave one receipt from the party we had at Scarcyny Park. There were some unnecessary items that were not used in the event so I had to take out the money used unnecessarily from that total amount. It took some thinking, but I was able to get it done. I moved onto making packages for an event at DHDC. The packages contain information and auction forms for the event and I had to make a package for five different people. Also, Sylvia said she wanted 10 extra packages just in case she needed them. I knocked this ou

Jacqueline Perez-10.7.13

Jacqueline Perez October 7, 2013             Today was a good day at Ideal Group. It is my rotating Monday so I work again tomorrow.  I am actually happy that I work again tomorrow since school feels like a longer day than work. I do love school though, and I do plan on going to college. Today I worked with Jennifer again. I invoiced Chrysler, and invoiced General Motors engineering as well. I also  filed  paid and non-paid invoices. There were a lot of paid invoices to file and I got really tired since it was the morning, but I got it all completed. It’s starting to become a routine now and I don’t really need help anymore. For lunch I had noodles, it wasn't really healthy but I guess the carrots on the side made up for it. Overall it was an exceptional day at work.

Busy Friday

I came to Ideal tired, since I had a game last night, but we won. The first thing I did was to get a cup of coffee to pump up my day a little. I saw material checks in my desk, so I went ahead and did them, It took me a while, Chelsea wanted me to go downstairs and get some checks signed ASAP and mail them in the morning. I continue doing material checks and finally I was done. There were checks missing there back up so I went to Terry to help me find them. While she was looking for the invoices I started to file last week invoices very quick. Finally, we found all the back up and gave them to Rachael Lunch came and I went and had lunch with Jose Perez. We had good talk about going to the park Saturday and homecoming. I wasn’t that hungry, all I ate was cookies that Perez gave me. We had a long break so it was time to get to work. I went upstairs and Bonnie asked me if I could help her. She had me mail invoices, then when I was finished with Bonnie stuff there were PDPM and ha

My day went by very slow today. I started by putting my lunch in the fridge and on my way there Amanda said hello to me. Afterwards, I went to talk to Tony on what he wanted me to do for the day. He gave me the task to look for some drawings in a bid website. I had only done this a few times but I was confident that I could do it. I went downstairs and grabbed myself a cup of coffee and went to sit down at my desk. I turned on my computer and got started on my work.                 I went upstairs for my next task which was to print out some drawings. The printer ran out of paper. It seems like I was always changing the paper. When I finally got the printer to work, I started making all the copies and then went to lunch. At lunch, I sat with Jose Patino and we talked about the party in the park we were going to on Saturday. We also talked about homecoming and what we were planning to do. After lunch, I went to do my work up stairs and getting all the drawings together so I can turn

My busy day by Richard Zarate

Today was my sixth day as a intern for Ideal Group. When I got here I went to Alex for some work. I started doing some drops and Po's. Later Osmara got here and I went to see her at her desk. I was talking to Osmara and I went to see what she was doing. She told me to go to the room with the exit sign on top of the door. I didn't want to go because I wasn't sure I was allowed to go there so I told her to go with me. We got what   she wanted and we put some posters on them. After that I went to my desk to finish my work. Later Dennis wanted me to stamp some packages and I went to Amanda because I didn't knew how to do it. She took me to stamp machine and she taught me how. So today I got to learn something new. Around 11:30 I was going to go get a snack from the refrigerator and I saw Osmara in the conference room cleaning and I asked her if she needed help and she said yes. I helped her clean the tables and some of Frank's awards. After I finished Osmara told me t

Blog: Chris Lara 10-01-2013 My work days at Ideal are getting more interesting every time I come. I came to work today in a very gloomy mood. I didn’t want anyone to think I am not ready to work so I put my best ‘smile’ on and started to log onto my computer. After a short while, Sylvia came into the office. I greeted her and continued to check my mail. Then, she wanted to talk to me for a brief time to talk about my backlog and what I’m going to do for the rest of the day. I was to learn how to send a piece of certified mail, write a short story of how Cadillac Urban Gardens has changed me, and I had to make some more packages for the DHDC Gala. I started on the piece of certified mail. I had no idea what this was for but I did some research. Certified mail means that the sender gets a signed receipt proving that you did indeed receive the mail. I looked at the rates online at the United States Postal Service website. They had the updated rates there so it wasn’t too ha

Jacqueline Perez 10.1.13

Jacqueline Perez October 1, 2013             Today was a busy day at Ideal. I had a lot of work that Jennifer gave me, but I didn’t complain since I understand she needs help. It’s the beginning of the month and Kelly isn’t working with us at the moment so we are quite busy. The first thing I did was file paid invoices. It was quite funny because I’m short and I could barely reach the top drawer. Then I sorted out the mail for a little while. After that I accomplished some Ideal Setech billing and created some Chrysler invoices. Finally, I entered the invoices on MAS then I had to enter them on the Chrysler website.
