Today was a great day. I started my day by doing some mailers. After I finished them I checked my email. I asked Alex if she needed help, she gave me some mailers to send out. After I finished I went upstairs and helped at Ideal Contracting. I put back some files for Maria and I restock the printers with paper. I went back downstairs and helped  Alex. She gave me some scans to do. I hadn't done scans in awhile. She showed me step by step in how to do them. Later Amanda told me to print out 200 copies of a document. After I printed them out it was time for lunch.   I had a peanut-butter sandwich, fruit, chips, and Sylvia gave me a sandwich. I checked my grades and then lunch was over. Jennifer taught me how to use the folding machine. It took a long time to fold the 200 papers. After I finished, I went back to my desk. Sylvia asked me to print some papers for her. Later Amanda came and gave me some envelopes to put the papers in. Overall, my day was great.

Jacqueline Perez - April 29, 2014

Jacqueline Perez – April 29, 2014             Today I came to work feeling great. I was wide awake and ready for work. I worked for Setech all day and I enjoyed it. I began to work on sorting new invoices by placing them in the correct slot. After that, I filed a lot of paid invoices in the back room. I also helped Kelly voucher because Setech had to catch up on vouchering the invoices. Vouchering is entering the invoice information for payment into a program called Symix.             For lunch, I ate the peanut butter and jelly sandwich provided by the school. I also worked on the To-Do list for the Cadillac Urban Gardens with Christopher. Many things have to be done to prepare the garden to our standards and hopefully everything will be accomplished soon. During lunch, I also met a very nice lady named Mary Turner who was touring the office. She gave me great advice on helping others. Overall, it was an amazing day.

Monday

Today was a productive, smooth day. I came in and started to archive folders for Julie. I had a few done last Friday that I was here. Then, Maria had the material checks ready, so I put aside the folders for later and started to do them. It took me all morning, then lunch came.             For lunch, they brought Subway, I went to the kitchen and took two slices and a cupcake since there were a lot of snacks from Friday I believe. When I was done with lunch I continued doing material checks.             When I was done with material checks I went downstairs and gave them to Rachael, I had a few   upstairs because they didn’t have an invoices attached to them yet, so I needed to find them. Later, Chelsea helped me and we were able to find the missing invoices, later I took them down to Rachael. I went back upstairs and continued archiving Julie’s folders. Overall, my day was good. Moday at Ideal

Today was an good day at Ideal. I came into work and as soon as I sat at my desk, I had many tasks to do. Tony emailed me about plotting some drawings and also looking for some bid jobs. For a while I started to think that I wasn’t going to be able to do all the work but I got my things together and got them all done before I went on to lunch.             At lunch me and the guys and girls in accounting went to Red Robin where I had a nice juicy burger. We had fun conversations and talked about how I was doing in school. When I got back to Ideal, I went back to my desk and worked in converting all the Sky Zone pictures into PDFs.   Afterwards, I went to the shop to give Abel some drawings and looking at the inventory in the shop. Overall my day was great.

Today when I got here I was told that a new sales person is using my desk and I was going to sit in Alex's desk in the marketing office. I checked my email and I went to Ideal Contracting and helped them a little bit and later I went to Amanda for some work. She told me to call Gary Brothers and to ask him for some work. Gary wanted me to match some duplicate items. I had some trouble getting in the program. After I got in, I started working. While I was working, Sylvia called me to the conference room. She wanted me to organize the room for a meeting. So I organized the chairs and cleaned the tables. I put some dishes in the dish washer. I set the chips on the basket and washed the fruit. I went back to my work and later Sylvia asked me to go with her to pick up the tamales.   We got back from the store. She wanted me to reheat the tamales. So I did. She showed me how to set out the food. Frank introduced me to some people of DTE Energy.Later, I asked Amanda if she could help m

Chris Lara 4-22-14

Chris Lara 3-22-14             On my Easter break, I was able to learn more about different work  environments  and levels of proficiency by working at Honeybee Market. I spent a couple of days there, and I was able to work in the kitchen with my brother, Brian, and his co-worker, Joel.             Brian and I entered early in the morning, and began working. My brother was naturally good at getting up and going, so he was already running for his supplies. I, on the other hand, was slowly trudging behind, helping him carry some produce. I noticed this energy difference and started to boost myself. Then, I began to look around at all of my other co-workers; they were moving so fast, carrying heavy loads, and managing their own departments as if an emergency had broken out. I kept the thought of being just as energetic as them as I followed Brian back to the kitchen. He turned on all the ovens and worked on the breakfast/lunch preparations. I was on the side packing salsa, blendi

Jacqueline Perez - April 22, 2014

Jacqueline Perez – April 22, 2014             Today has been a good day at work after spring break.  I didn’t come to work last week because of break and I missed being here. I helped Kelly out today since she was training someone else. I assisted her in filing the invoices for Defiance and Warren and sorting new invoices that came in today. I also helped Theresa for a little while. I prepared the deposit for the bank. Theresa went out and brought me some delicious KFC for lunch. After lunch I began to pull the check prelim for Ideal Setech. This involves pulling the invoice copies and matching them to the check stubs. Overall, it has been a fine day at work.

Friday

Today went pretty good. I started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. Once I was done I scanned business cards for Bob that he gave me last Friday. There were a lot of cards so I knew it was going to take me the whole day to finished or finished half of it. Bonnie wanted to send out invoices and file before I was out today, so I put the cards aside for a while and started as soon as possible with the invoices.             Lunch came and I had some Arabic food, I don’t remember what it was called, but I think I know is that it was delicious. Once I was done with lunch I went to Loren’s office and we were talking about school and work, it was good talk after all.             I started to do the mail since Katie wasn’t here, once I was done I continued doing the cards for Bob. Overall my day was great. Jose Patino

Ideal Fridays

Today was a typical day at Ideal Group. I started my day by getting a glass of water since it was really warm in the Accounting Office. I got started on some work for Tony and gathered a lot of information for our Sky Zone jobs. I had to make new folders and then look at all the pictures for the locations.                 At lunch, I worked on some math with Sean and might I say that I really understood it for the first time. We had some problems, but we managed to get everything right. Afterwards, I went to eat my fish since I couldn’t eat meat. I had fish and chips and it was really tasty.                 After lunch was over, I went to help Kelly with vouchering Ideal Setech invoices and I started to remember the first year I worked at Ideal. I always enjoyed working in the Accounting Office and liked having laughs with the guys. Overall my day was successful and I had a good day.

Today when I got here, I checked my email. I went to go ask Kelly for some Panera Bread labels. She gave me 5 sheets of labels and some postcards. I did the labels in 30 minutes. I mailed them out and I went to go check on Amanda. I talked to her about school and that I got a 3.2 on my report card. I asked if she had any work and she told me to tell Jennifer to mail a package. After I gave Jennifer the package, I went upstairs to help in Ideal Contracting.    I filed some papers and put back some folders. I went downstairs and I did dome more labels. I used my Chromebook to check my grades, Dennis asked me what I got and he told me that he wanted me to get a 3.5 next quarter.  I went back to Contracting and I helped file some more. Jacqueline Perez – April 8, 2014             It was a very great day at work. I worked for Setech all day and I enjoyed it very much. I went out to lunch with Sylvia and Chris to celebrate our induction into the National Honors Society.             Today I filed the unpaid invoices that Kelly had vouchered yesterday. I filed all of the invoices and then began to work on statements that had to be checked for Warren and Defiance. I worked on those for most of the morning and all of the afternoon.             Last Friday Chris and I had our induction to the National Honors Society. Sylvia was very kind, and took us out to lunch to celebrate. We ate at El Barzon and the food was amazing. My mom and coworkers were very proud and so am I. It has been an amazing day at Ideal.

Chris Lara; April 8, 2014

Chris Lara; April 8, 2014             When I was nominated to be in the National Honor Society (NHS), I knew I would have to make a stunning entrance. After I was inducted, I was asked to write a small speech on one of the four pillars that NHS is based on; scholarship . I wrote about the virtue of scholarships, how they affect the student body, and what effect they have on my life. After I wrote the speech, I had to present it. This was the hardest part of being in the NHS, but it taught me many valuable lessons.             Last Friday, I gave the speech at the induction ceremony hosted in the Detroit Cristo Rey gym. Attending the ceremony were the 19 inductees, the entire school (excluding the seniors), and parents. This meant that there was a small crowd to witness my first speech, and this was a perfect opportunity to show my potential in public speaking. I was the first of the four people giving speeches, so I had to initiate. I stood at the podium with my speech in hand,

Its Friday :)
