Today when I got here, I went to sit on Osmara's desk. I started my day by doing some scans.  I had a lot of scans to do, I had to save them on the network and then put them in sugar. After I finished, I updated the mailer list. I finished around 10:45 and I started to put labels on postcards. I did them until lunch. After lunch, I continued to put labels on postcards and later I mailed them out.   After I finished the postcards, I went upstairs to Ideal Contracting and I helped them to file. I went back downstairs and I help Sylvia with some papers. After I helped Sylvia, I continued a mailer list that Alex left me to do. I didn't get to get very far. Today was a pretty good day.   What is my favorite thing about being a Sophomore? I'm glad that I'm not a Freshmen because last year we got to miss a lot of fun activities in school. We missed the spirit games and we had to go to work on Wednesday (pizza day). And every year that goes by, I get closer to graduation.

Jacqueline Perez - Working alongside Sylvia

Jacqueline Perez October 23, 2014 In the office working alongside Sylvia             I was very productive in what I did today. I helped Sylvia with DACA this morning and now I’m in charge of updating the spreadsheet. I also have to email Sylvia and Joanne regularly about the DACA applicant’s statuses. I also called some of the applicants to see if they can come in for some signatures that were left unsigned.             I took my lunch and while I was on lunch break I did some homework. I worked on a US History essay.             After lunch I worked on the GM Cares Week Before and After PowerPoint. I added some pictures, fixed texts and moved slides around. I also did the cover page for the binder where my blogs go. Overall it was an amazing day working in the Administration office.

Jacqueline 10-20-14

Jacqueline Perez October 20, 2014             I did a lot of things today that I liked. I went around Detroit to local businesses with Rachel to pass out flyers. I also worked on the last DACA applications that need to be mailed. I also helped Sylvia with GM Cares Week PowerPoint because it needed some finishing touches.             In the morning the first thing I did was write my thank you letters to Paul Blavin and the London’s, who came to visit last Monday and were very nice and helpful. I learned more about college and different colleges. I, then, began to work on the PowerPoint and editing some of the slides. After that I went out to lunch with Rachel Gutierrez and we ate tacos from Taco Veloz. After our lunch we went around Detroit to some local businesses to put up and pass out flyers for DIA Away. When I came back I worked on DACA and making sure people had all the signatures. I was very productive today and very proud of what I got done.

Today was a pretty long day. When I got here, I saw that someone was sitting in my usual spot. So I went to go sit in Osmara's desk. I did some scans until Zach gave me some work to do. I had to go to the item master and changed the number of inventory. I started to work, I just had to change the quantity and date for each item, but there was a lot to do. I continued to work until lunch.   After lunch I went back to Osmara's desk and continued to work. I said hi to Frank, after a while, I finished my work. Sylvia asked me to make some folders for her. They were easy and fast. I handed Sylvia the folders and she gave me a high five. I called Zach to tell him I finished. My day was pretty great.   What did I think about "Who Moved My Cheese" by Spencer Johnson. It was a great book, the book made you think who you are. There's 4 characters, 2 humans who are named Hem and Haw, 2 mice named Sniff and Scurry. Sniff responds to things when they are changing. Scurry

Today when I got here, I went to my desk. Alex left me some work to do. I started by putting labels on postcards. Then I updated the mailer list, and later I mailed out the postcards. After I finished, I did some scans, I had to save them to the system and Sugar. After I finished, it was time for lunch.  My mom brought me some tacos from Tacos Veloz and they were delicious. After lunch, I started to add to the Subway spreadsheet. I got to finish Ohio, New Jersey, and Connecticut. I asked Amanda for some work and she asked me to make a folder for some papers. Then she gave me a spreadsheet to do. I had to search for a product and see if Ideal Surplus were in the first five. Today was a great day.   Yesterday I met Paul Blavin,  James and Patricia London. All the Ideal Group interns had to give a presentation. Paulina went first, then Chris, Jackie and then me. I was pretty nervous about giving my presentation. I felt I did good. After the presentations we gave our guests some tours

Christopher Lara 10-9-14

Christopher Lara 10-9-14 Today was a very casual day. I completed a repetitive task that took up a large portion of my day, but the outcome was well worth the effort.  The task can be described as matching shippers with invoices. I’ve done this multiple times in the past, but today’s set of invoices took longer than usual. The procedure for this task was simple. First, find the shipper with the corresponding invoice, then staple. Today’s set took longer because I was not as energized as usual. Next time, I will eat breakfast so my mind can stay active and awake, thus being ready for any situation or task Ideal Contracting throws at me. Overall, I had fun talking with Maria today, and I enjoyed the company of my great boss, Yesenia.
Today at work I was doing a lot of printing.I was doing printing for Tony and Steven. They sent me email of what thy wanted me to do for the day. They started by talking to me and tell me where to put them and how many they wanted. they wanted 3 stets of each one i was going to print. When they finished explaining me what to do. I started waiting for Steve to put the files and the papers that he wanted me to print. He was putting them in my flash drive that they gave me so it can be easy for me to change and print them.  When I finished with printing all of those papers I had my lunch break for a hour. I had finished  my lunch early so i got bored and walked around. I have went downstairs to go talk with Osmara like i always do in lunch. she wasn't in he office so i looked for her and I saw her in the kitchen. She was cleaning the refrigerator because they told her to she didn't want to i would ether because their was old moldy food that been their for a long time. I could te

Ideal Surplus by Richard Zarate

Yesterday Amanda told me that I was going to work at Ideal Surplus. When I got here, Amanda asked me to wait because Zack, Gary, and Chris were in a meeting. I sat down on my desk and worked on my PowerPoint and I read "Who Moved My Cheese." When I got to Surplus, Zack asked me to check inventory. I checked about 2 drawers of inventory and then it was time for lunch.    I went to Ideal Group for lunch, after lunch I went back to Surplus. I continued to check inventory for the rest of my day. I was working so much that I lost track of time. Zack told me that I could leave. I went back to Ideal Group and wrote my blog. My day was great.   Do I like working sitting down or constantly moving. I like working in a office setting but eventually you get tired and bored. I like to move around a lot when I work, I stay active and I don't get bored. Each of them has there pros and cons. I like both jobs equally.

Today when I got here, I went to my desk and Alex gave me some work to do. I updated the mailer list and put some labels on postcards. I mailed out the post cards. I did some scans for Alex. Today was the bake sale to support cancer, I bought 2 cookies and a cupcake and I donated a dollar. I went upstairs to contacting and filed some papers. I put back some folder into the drawers. I helped Maria put some papers together. I helped Osmara organize the food for the meeting.    After lunch, I helped Osmara organize some stuff. I went back to my desk and did some more scans that Alex sent me. I worked on my PowerPoint, I got pretty far and I feel good about it. My day was pretty simple, I wrote my blog at the end. Today was a great day.   Why are scholarships important? I feel that scholarships are a benefit for anyone who gets one. Scholarships help anyone who doesn't have money, let's face it, the economy isn't good right now and probably your parents don't have

Jacqueline Perez - October 2, 2014

Jacqueline Perez October 2, 2014                         I had a great day working in the Administration office. I worked with Sylvia and worked mostly with the GM metrics. I calculated the number of hours each company volunteered that came to the Junction Street Clean Up. I first got the company names and the people that came. Then I got the number of hours that were worked and multiplied it up and got my totals. I finished the spreadsheet and I also worked a little more on the Thank You letter for the companies that came for GM Cares Week.             It was a very productive day and I enjoyed working in the Admin office.

Christopher Lara 10-2-14

Christopher Lara 10-2-14                 Today’s tasks improved my knowledge of the work I’m doing at Ideal. Many of the tasks have been repetitive, and other than using the skill of memorization, a steady routine was being incorporated into my internship.                 The past couple of work days have shown me that a steady routine is going to be necessary completing my tasks for the day. To begin, I come and ask if there are any special tasks that should be completed. After, I file some paperwork that is on a rack on top of the cabinets. Then, I file some more paperwork for Chelsea, and I match shippers to invoices. Finally, I filed hard-dollar folders or any other types of paperwork for Maria.                 These tasks are always present in my work days for the Contracting side of Ideal, so if I put them into a set routine for the day, then my day goes much smoother.

Jacqueline Perez - Sep. 25, 2014

Jacqueline Perez September 25, 2014                         Today I completed many things. I helped Sylvia because she was out of the office.  I worked on the GM Cares week ‘Thank You’ letter for all the companies and people that helped.  I also worked a little on DACA.  I redid some forms for DACA students. I had them come in and finish their paper work later in the day.  I also downloaded more pictures from GM Cares Week and saved them to their respectful folders. I had a very productive day and I’m happy with all I got accomplished.

Jacqueline Perez - GM Cares Week After Math /

Jacqueline Perez September 22, 2014 After math of GM Cares Week I had a great work day working alongside Sylvia today. I invested most of my time in the after math of GM Cares Week. In the morning I filed some pictures of GM Cares Week and I saw all the progress that was done to clean up Junction Street. I also worked on an Excel spreadsheet that consists of the people that volunteered and how many hours volunteered. I also added the materials that were used throughout the week. I am very happy to see the many different companies that came together to help out the neighborhood. When I had time I helped Theresa sort the mail and deliver it to their correspondents. Overall today was a very productive day.
