Christopher Lara 11-20-14

Christopher Lara 11-20-14                 I completed today’s tasks at a much more productive pace, compared to my last work day. I noticed this increase because of the amount of work I finished, and the time it took. Now, I am getting into the habit of this repetitive work cycle and have adapted my mind to focusing better.                 To put my work in perspective, I can tell you an example of today’s tasks. Normally, I attach shipping slips to the corresponding invoices, and a stack of around 40 invoice groups takes up my whole day. Today was different, though. I was able to get through three stacks of relatively same size groups! I’m thinking the reason was because I knew where to look for faster attachment, and my mind was more focused than other days. None the less, I feel confident in my work-style and I am hoping to practice even more for faster completion times.                 At the end of the day, I was able to practice consistency and endurance throughout to

Today went by fast. When I got here today, I checked my email. Alex left me some postcards to send out. They were pretty easy to get done. After I finished, I did a mailer list for Alex. She wanted me to get the locations of the Gordon Food Service's locations. There weren't that many to do. Later I went upstairs to help Ideal Contracting. I helped them file some papers.  For lunch, my mom brought me some fresh cooked taquitos. After lunch, I started to help Sylvia. She asked me to scan the thank you later from the Book Nook into one sided. It was tricky at first, but I managed to finish. Later, Sylvia asked me to organize some papers, put them into a folder, and to make some labels. I made some folders for Sylvia's papers and I sent out a letter for her. Today was a good day.   Next week I'm moving houses. My mom wanted to change house so is could suit us better. Were moving into a smaller house than the one we live in. The house isn't that small but it's s

Today when I got here, I went to Osmara's desk and checked my email. I started my day by putting some scans into the network and then into sugar. After I finished, I updated the mailer list. Alex left me some postcards to mail out. Amanda congratulated me on making it into the 2nd honors. I started by putting the labels on the postcards and then I mailed them out. Later, I continued to do the mailer list from last week.   After lunch, I went into Frank's office to clean his tank, I scrubbed of some of the algae that was on the glass and then I fed them. I went back to my desk and continued to do the mailer list. During the afternoon, I went upstairs to Ideal Contracting and helped them. I helped them by filing a stack of papers. I went downstairs later and worked on the mailer list and then wrote my blog. My day was pretty great.   What did I think about the SHPE Career Fair? I thought It was pretty great. There were many companies such as, EA Sports, Target, Nissan, Micro

Jacqueline Perez - Why Detroit Cristo Rey Students Write Blogs

Jacqueline Perez November 13, 2014 Why Detroit Cristo Rey Students Write a Blog                         There are many reasons for why Detroit Cristo Rey students write blogs. We write about what we have done throughout the day. A work related topic or we’re given a topic that has to do with the interns or events we have attended.             Most student interns talk about their daily tasks. All Cristo Rey Students work in different departments so everyone talks about different things we have done throughout the day. I usually talk about what I do in the Admin office because that’s where I work. I help Sylvia and Amanda and I talk about the tasks they prepare for me.             On occasions Detroit Cristo Rey students attend events or have a topic that is given to us to write about. Today my topic is “Why Detroit Cristo Rey Students write a blog”. I will also be writing a blog about a career fair I went to. Some students receive a topic and write about it on their blog an

Christopher Lara 11-6-14

Christopher Lara 11-6-14 Working in the office today taught me that I have a family-based work group in the Ideal Group. I say family-based because everyone I work with appreciates and respects the Cristo Rey Interns as if they were their own younger sibling. Although the level of professionalism stays average, I get along with everyone equally and have found some of my co-workers to be mentors that have personalities that can help me. I've noticed this relation because of my recent birthday. Sylvia, who is my much respected mentor and friend, took me out to lunch for this occasion. We had a great time and it reminded me of the family I have that cares about me. Also, people like Jackie, the Contracting team, and the Sales team care and congratulate me for this celebrator day. Other than celebrating with my amazing co-workers, I continued to develop consistency in my tasks by organizing and attaching shippers to invoices. Although I did not finish it entirely, I was able

Today when I got here, I went to go find Amanda Kowalski, because she knew where the keys are to open the admin office. I sat down in Amanda's desk and checked my email. I made some folders for Sylvia and then I entered some contacts for Sylvia as well. I also took care of some tasks for Osmara. After I finished, I continued a mailer list from yesterday. I finished the list right before lunch.   After lunch, I printed out the labels and posted them on postcards. After I finished I mailed out the postcards. They process to mail out the postcards is long. After I finished, I started a new mailer list for Alex. While I was working, Sylvia asked if I could unload the dishwasher. After I unloaded the dishwasher, I continued working on the mailer list and later I wrote my blog. I went to Ideal Contracting and helped them file some papers. My day today was pretty great.

Today when I got here, I had to sit in Amanda's desk because she wasn't here. I started my day by putting in some contacts for Amanda. There were a lot to do.  I finished around 10:00 am. I asked Alex for some work and she gave me some postcards to send out. They were easy to do. Later Sylvia asked me to look for a bigger envelope to mail out the Ideal interns' presentations. I was able to find a bigger envelope and I made a label and mailed it out.   After Lunch I started to work on a mailer list that Alex gave me. I also sorted out some mail for Sylvia and shredded some papers too. Jesse came to talk to Sylvia and then he talked to me about taking the ACT and SAT.  I worked until 2:30, because Kelly was going to teach me how to watch after the tank in Frank's office. She taught me how to feed the fish, how to clean the tank, and where to order the supplies. After I finished, I went back to my desk to work on my blog. My day was pretty great.   What did Jesse talk
