Ideal Group Interns

As I walked into Ideal I thought of what I was going to do. My tasks are always different so my thoughts were very general. Maybe I was going to create a spreadsheet on Microsoft Excel or maybe I was going to help Sylvia with some physical work. There are many tasks that I could accomplish so my mind was very excited. I walked into the front doors and started my day.                 When I went inside the company I saw Amanda at her desk but not Sylvia. I knew Sylvia was going to come in but I didn’t know when. So with that question in my head I logged onto my computer. I asked Amanda, “How are you?” with a smile on my face. She responds very happily and we start a conversation. I checked my e-mail afterwards and was surprised in the low amount of messages I had received. I had none from Sylvia so I was beginning to wonder. Today was a fun day. I came into Ideal and asked Maria if she had something for me to do. I helped file papers but since I didn’t find folders for them she told me it was ok and to give them back to her. Then she had me file shippers. Jon Anglin came up to me and told me to be ready at 9 because we were going to take a CPR class down the conference room. While I was waiting for it to be 9 I kept working. When it was 9, Chelsea and I went down stairs, the Sarah and two other men came. Jon was instructing the class. We were going through all the lessons in the video on how to do compressions and mouth to mouth. It was cool because we had this plastic dummy and we were practicing. We had a fun time. Lunch came and they brought Mr. Pita, which was great meal. Then immediately the class started. The class ended at 3, it was a long day but I learn a lot of stuff. Today went great as I thought it would. I came in at Ideal and said good morning to everyone upstairs. I went to the kitchen and got myself a cup of coffee like usual. I started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. When I was done filing, David had me do Payroll transfer forms, it took me all morning to finish them. It was fun because it was something new for me. Lunch came and Chelsea and I went to Louie’s and had a great meal. On the way back Chelsea was telling that tomorrow we're going to take a class to learn how to do CPR. I’m pretty excited now. We got back to Ideal I helped Maria do the mail which was a pain because every Monday there’s a lot of mail. When we were done we started to stamp them and put them in people inboxes. When we were done I helped Terry file invoices. Overall, that was my good day at Ideal.  JP

I woke up in a great mood this morning. Today was the day I turned 17 and I was closer and closer to becoming an adult with many responsibilities. I couldn’t wait to see what my day was going to be like. I got out of bed and got ready for school. When I got there all my friends came up to me and said happy birthday and I got a bunch if hugs. When I got to Ideal I walked into the Accounting office and “Theres-o” said happy birthday along with the other members of the accounting cave. I worked with Sean all morning since my supervisor wasn’t here today.               Most of my morning consisted of me entering some invoices into our MAS system. I was starting to get a bet tired so I headed towards the kitchen to get some coffee. After, I went to talk to Amanda about my grades and when we were going to lunch. I choose to go around one since Amanda had a meeting. When lunch time came I was starving and couldn’t wait to eat something. We ended up going to my favorite restaurant Buffa

Today at Ideal was very productive. Started my day by doing a Kmart contact list for the 402 region. That was a lot of  contacts but I stuck through it and actually got it done pretty quickly which made Catherine very proud of me. When I completed that I narrowed down a  contact list to the inventory that we had so we could send a mailer to the top 100 U.S. architect firms. After all of that my lunch time came. Mike in sales actually took me out to lunch today. We went to this Mexican restaurant that was very good. If I could I would go there everyday to get food. But my lunch with Mike was cool. After lunch I continued on with the mailers that I begun before lunch. I had to put a booklet into an envelope and I also put labels onto the envelopes. I tried to put the envelopes into the stamping machine but they wouldn't fit! So my alternative was to take a little sheet of paper and put it through the machine and then stick them onto the envelopes with the amount of money due on it

I walked into Ideal with a smile in my face and joy in my heart. I did not know what I was going to do but I was sure it was enough for an intern. I opened the doors to Ideal and my future was set.                 When I ran into Ideal I was full of energy. I saw Amanda and Sylvia! I was very glad to see Sylvia in the office. She was recovering like a real champ from her accident. She was typing away at her keyboard showing everyone in the office not to slack off because she had a cast on and was working with ease. I mentally laughed at my thoughts and went to get ready. I hung my jacket and logged onto my account while checking my piles of e-mail. I had received many messages so I knew today was going to get busy.                 When I checked my e-mail Sylvia talked to me about some of my tasks and I wrote them down in case I was going to forget. I was to complete some presentation plans and get ready for the Ohtli Award presentation. Later I was going to go with Sylvia to C

Today went as great as I thought. I came in Ideal and said good morning to everyone upstairs. I went to my desk and Chelsea said there was bagels in the kitchen, I rapidly walked to the kitchen and made myself a bagel and a cup of coffee to pump up my morning. I went to Maria if she had something for me to do, so she handed me shippers to file them. While I was doing that Chelsea gave me checks and wanted me to make copies and match them with their own invoices. I put the shippers aside and started working on the checks. Suddenly lunch came and Chelsea and I went to an Arabic restaurant. I had a good meal. When we were finished we headed back to Ideal. I continued doing the checks. Finally when I was done I put the checks in a folder and gave them to Loren so he could sign them. While I was waiting on him I started to do my Latin homework. When I was done with my homework I went to Loren office and check if he already sign the checks, which he did and so I gave them to Chelsea . Over

On my way to Ideal I had a great time relaxing and hearing music on the bus. I  almost fell asleep but my friend woke me up. While on the ride to work, I opened my mind and started to think about different topics like what was I going to do today at Ideal. Soon enough I had arrived at the gates of Ideal group and was ready to start my day. On my way into to building I could see that Sylvia’s car was in the  parking lot   I was glad to see that she was back in the office since Ideal  didn't  feel the same without her.             I wanted to say hello to Sylvia as soon as I walked into the door, but she  wasn't  at her desk, and Amanda was on the phone so I headed towards the accounting office. When I walked in I said hello to everyone and then realized that Sean  wasn't  at his desk. I started to worry since I needed something to do. In the meantime I opened the mail for Jennifer and soon enough Sean came into the office. He had me work on some invoices for the rest of

On my way into Ideal I realized I had a little problem. I had forgotten my key card to get into the building, so I had to improvise. I got on my phone and called the only person I could think about to open the door. Since Amanda’s office was the closest one to the door I asked her if she could open the door for me. Realizing that I came to work today Amanda gladly opened the door and I went on to work in the accounting office. I started my day by saying good morning to everyone. Jennifer then told me what my task was for the day. I had to do the billing for Ideal Setech like I have done over the school year. I had finished my billing for the week before lunch time arrived so I went to work with Sean.   He had me match POs to invoices and enter invoices into our system and then file them in the cabinets. After a while it was time for lunch and I had my not so good, but acceptable, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I also had an orange and some gold fish that tasted mighty good. Whe

Today was an ok day. I worked in the Admin office today. To start off  my day, Catherine gave me the task to make a mailer for Home Depot locations in the 403 region. That only took me a couple of minutes to do so I was on to the next task really quick. My next task was to make another Home Depot list but with Specific names on it. Then I ate my lunch. I had a Italian sub from Tuby's. After my lunch my task was to make labels for that contact list I started earlier. After I made the labels I made a envelope full of our information and letters to be sent to the Home Depots. I finished that pretty quickly and Catherine was ready with another task for me. She asked me to look up Starbucks' in the 405 region so we can send a mailer out to see if we can sell our product to them. Didn't get a chance to finish that but I will be looking forward  to finishing it next week. That was the ideal day. MB

When I walked into Ideal I was not expecting what was going to happen in the later part of the day. I went into the ADMIN office and saw Amanda. She was on the phone as usual so I left her to her responsibilities. I then went to my desk and started to log on. When I logged on I checked my e-mail and saw many messages. The messages were from co-workers about sales and other informative statements. Then I saw an e-mail that really got me exited. The “Group Scoop” article has arrived! Many peers at my age maybe don’t like to read but to me it’s an important part of my life. After I read the article I went onto seeing what Sylvia has planned for me.                 She sent me an email and told me that I was to send invitations to an event later on this week. I checked and corrected the mistakes and went on printing the invitation out. This took me some time since I had to send each individual person a letter. This went on until Amanda told me to go to lunch.                 When I we

It’s been a long time that I haven’t went to Ideal, I pretty much missed it since I had ACT last week and didn’t came to work. I came in and said hi to everybody. I went to the kitchen and did myself a cup of coffee to start off my day. I asked Maria if she had something for me to do, she had me write names of folders that didn’t have tags attached to them. When I was finished I gave her the paper and she wrote them in a little paper and I had to put them in the folder. When I was finish, I went and file PDPM and hard folders. That was done and Chelsea had me put checks to their own invoices and then mail them out. Then Maria had me file invoices, which took me all morning. Lunch came and Chelsea and I went to a Mexican restaurant, the meal was good. We headed back to Ideal and I continue filing invoices. When I was finally done, Chelsea had me do extended checks. Today at Ideal was good. I started my day off by creating a E-blast list for the 402 SMO list. I did this list for WI and MO. There was alot of people in the Wisconsin list so I had to buckle down and get it done. On the Missouri list I kind of messed up. Instead of doing MO I did MD. Big difference in states, so I had to corrcet the mistake. Then it was time for lunch my lunch. At lunch Mike Powers in sales noticed I was having trouble in my chemistry class. So he offered to help me. He is actually was pretty good at teaching me on how to do it. After a while I was starting to get what we are learning a lot better. We did some practice problems and I was got all of them right. After my lunch I continued on with my E-blast list for MO instead of MD. After that my day was over. That was Mykel Benders Day. P.S. My AAU practice starts tomorrow for basketball. I,m really excited because this is kind of my first time playing AAU. It should turn out good for me.

On my way towards the front door I saw that the Admin office lights were off. At first, I started to think that Amanda Schmidke wasn’t at work today which was something unusual. When I put my foot inside the building I then realized that she was in the weekly marketing meeting on Fridays. I then headed towards the accounting office and said hello to my fellow co-worker. Everyone was in their seats but the room seemed different since Kelly started working for Ideal Setech.                 My morning was same as always I started to do my billing for Ideal Setech, but was happy to know that I didn’t have to do the billing for one of our department since it was already finished. So, my billing was done very quickly and I got started on some filing and then went to lunch. At lunch I went to the fridge and I couldn’t help but notice that my bag was smaller than before. I opened my bag and saw that my sandwich was half the size it used to be. I was really mad, but I got over it when I saw

Today as I walked into Ideal I was ready for my tasks. I knew Sylvia wasn’t going to be in and Amanda told me that Osmara was going to be in the office all day. So with that information I knew that this wasn’t going to be an ordinary day. I also brought a cheesecake to work so anybody with a sugar tooth could get some. When I entered the ADMIN office I saw Amanda Schmidke and Osmara Zarate at their desks. I was happy to annoy them both while assisting them in their work. I said, “Hello!” to both of them and went to my computer. I tried to log on but I forgot my password! I was stuck there for a couple of minutes when I remembered it. I couldn’t believe I forgot something as simple as that but I could remember dozens of numbers for a test. When I got onto my computer I checked my e-mail only to see a lot of unnecessary messages. Many messages were general “for the company” statements made by other coworkers but some were important. I also receive “Group Scoops” from Catherine McClary

My day at Ideal: Today as I started off I went to my desk in the ADMIN office. I saw Amanda and greeted her. She was on the phone so I held off on the greetings and logged onto my computer. I knew I wouldn’t see Sylvia because she had an incident but we will all be thinking of her. So as I set up I got straight to work. I checked my mail and saw what I had to do. I had a lot of mail from other co-workers about sales and pictures. I pay little attention to those but since they are not for me I just skip them. While I was doing this Sylvia called Amanda. Sylvia told Amanda what I was supposed to do which was to complete some spreadsheets and send some invitations through e-mail. I was really happy to hear from Sylvia because she was going to go into surgery and I wasn’t going to communicate with her for at least one week. I continued my work when the phone call ended. Today at Ideal Group, everything went by very fast. I started by coming in and talking to Jennifer about the billing this week she said it was done so I worked on other tasks. I first went to work on putting the stubs on the invoices so then could be filed. Afterward, the mail had arrived and I had the duty to sort and distribute it so that everyone got their mail. Then, lunch came and thanks to Sean, I had a very good meal of fish and chips. When lunch was over I went back to work and did some filing. My day went great and can’t wait for another. Jose Perez
