Since I'm going to begin another year full of success and learning, I wrote a personal statement that I can reference throughout the new 2016 year to make sure that I stay on track.   “Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them” -Albert Einstein As a youth leader in my school, community, and workplace, I feel that I express traits that manifest the idea of learning my own limitations and passing them to better myself, just as Einstein once said. Throughout my high school career, I listened to and observed my mentors to learn from their successful traits in projects like working with groups for overall understanding, focusing for completion by deadlines, and using those experiences to teach others the importance of the task at hand. One of the most difficult limits I had as a student was knowing how certain tasks were implemented in the real world, or wondering how each subject helped me in the future. After taking the initiative to ask my mentors and teachers the reason

Today was very good and well-paced. In the morning I sat down in what usually is Alexandra’s desk and started to do scans. After an hour or so of doing scan Kelly and I talked about colleges and different career path I would like to take. I really wanted to get into engineering until I found that there was much paperwork and I overall decided my major would be video game design. When lunch came around I was very surprised to see an immense line leading to one of the conference rooms. Today was a day where to company brought lunch to all and I served myself some pizza and salad. After lunch I worked on making a logo for Ideal Steel, which led to some different designs I came up with. After that the rest of my day consisted of finishing the left over scan of the week.             With the holiday season rapidly approaching people receive gifts that can move mountains. A gift that could keep on giving could be something as little as food or gifts to children in

Today was a good day. When I got off the bus, I went to Surplus. I changed into some work clothes and went to Gary for some work. Gary asked me to continue on the task that me and Christopher were working on. I had to replace an item number with the Surplus item number. I was told that I was allowed to work for Ideal Surplus on Christmas break. Steve confirmed with me and told me to make sure I have my permits filled out. I continued working on the list until lunch.    For lunch, Ideal bought the workers pizza. I ate lunch and talked to Pat, Sylvia, Loren, and Jesse. After lunch, I went back to Ideal Surplus and worked on the list. While I was working, Gary asked me to remove some items from Ebay. He gave me a list and I had to search them and remove them. After I finished, I continued on my list and then I wrote my blog. My day was good and I look forward to coming back next week to work with the other interns.      Our blog topic is how one blessing can help others. I am bless

Christian Perales December 15, 2015 The Ideal Group             As the year comes close to an end many people tend to think of all the things they have done in the year, whether it be a wonderful blessing or a hard time. As the season should be filled with joy, the topic for this post will be about one blessing that will lead to many more in my future. The one of the major blessing I have had this year is my internship with Ideal Group. On the first day of work at Ideal, Osmara gave me a tour because I didn’t really know my way around the building at first. As the year progressed, I learned my way around, met many people and had to try and remember their names, even if I had to ask a couple times to clarify. I was able to learn many things from others as my responsibilities grew.             Many people do not have the opportunities I have as an Ideal Intern and for that I am grateful because I know that everyone at Ideal wants nothing less than my very best. I know that th

What it means to give back is to not be selfish with anything and to help others in any way they need help. If you might have something you don’t use nor need you could give it to someone who does. I could, right now, give back to my community by not only helping myself but others with food. With all the canned food drives happening in various places anyone, including myself, can give people food. I could help my neighborhood by picking up litter on the streets so that our community looks as brilliant as the people. I could join student council to help make changes, for the better, at my school.   Like others at my school, I could make kids be more enthusiastic about school and gain money for the school or charity by hosting dress down days at a small fee.             My day was full of work and I made myself very productive. In the morning I walked in and I looked for Jennifer so I could check in. Once I did that I had to learn a new way of scanning different purchase

Christian Perales- The Importance of Giving Back

Christian Perales December 7, 2015 The Importance of Giving Back           In the month of December, many people begin to wonder what they can get, rather than what they can give. This is the time where many people are excited for Christmas and happily preparing for all of the Christmas festivities. Although some families are quite in the Christmas spirit everyone else is in. In many cases it isn’t because they hate the holidays or the festive joys many people are in, but because maybe they’re not quite financially set for the festivities others have. In some cases, putting food on the table and providing for their family is a struggle on its own.             The season should be focusing on how you are going to be preparing for Jesus, or just how you can help others in need. Some schools and companies have food and toy drives and collection for donations for families in need. At Detroit Cristo Rey High School, we are having a fund raiser for families in need and are helping

Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision Volunteer Leadership Award                 On Thursday, December 3 rd , I had the honor of receiving the Volunteer Leadership award from the non-profit organization, Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision (SDEV). This award has significant value in my heart because of the recognition it gives me for the work I’ve been doing for the past five years.                 SDEV has molded my life to what it is now. The success and achievements I’ve accomplished in the recent years has been because of the leadership skills the gardens, parks, events, and institutions SDEV has allowed me to work on. When I first began, I did not expect to lead a garden with over 300 vegetable bins and over 10,000 hours of volunteer hours logged. I have managed to live, breath, and think the idea of sustainability, which helps me in all corners of life. I’ve even been able to lead my school’s environmental group and Nation Honor Society with the skills accumulated f

What I have learned from this article is that the Venegas family is more involved with Ideal than I had thought. I learned that Jesse is going to be the heir to the business. I thought Frank was fifty years of age and it turns out he is sixty-two. I also didn’t know that they wanted to build a second bridge to Canada, making traffic immensely shorter. Also that Jesse is a very brilliant man like his father. A magazine like “DRIVEN” is a favorable idea because it informs other of people who are impacting this world, for the better, and tells you their story. Also many people are uninformed about great beginnings that have happened out of nowhere. It is an inspiration to everyone who picks up this magazine. People that need to read this are people that think nothing of themselves and young entrepreneurs who want to make something great. They should read this because it will motivate them to do incredible things.                 My day went by pretty quickly and smoothly

Richard Zarate - DRIVEN

My day was great, after I got off the bus, I went to Surplus. I had to wait for a while because Gary was busy and there were no computers for me to use. After Gary was done, he let me use his computer so I could change some of the labels of the items on Ebay. I did a couple before I had to move computers. I sat at another desk and Gary had me work on a spreadsheet. I had to add the quantity of items recieved. The task was easy and I finished it real quick. I continued to work on the item labels on Ebay until lunch. I had lucnh with Eriuqe, after lunch I went back to Surplus. I continued to work on the items on Ebay. I did a couple before I started to write my blog. My day went by pretty fast.    Driven is a magazine where they recognize the people who have had an impact on the automotive industry. Frank and Jesse Venegas were featured in DRIVEN. Frank talked about his family, he talked about how his grandfather left to go get a $5 an hour job. Hid dad and grandfather wanted him to

Oscar Jimenez - DRIVEN

Oscar Jimenez 12/2/15 DRIVEN Magazine Driven is a magazine in which they acknowledge the people who have made an impact on the automotive industry and showed multicultural diversity. Frank and Jesse Venegas are featured in the magazine DRIVEN they are proclaimed as role models in the automotive industry. Frank expresses how he became an entrepreneur and his life before coming to Detroit I actually learned a considerable amount of Frank’s life and his family like where he came from and his family and how he actually came to build the Ideal Group by buying a Cadillac. I know understand Frank and his ways more. I like that the Ideal Group is like a family run business and how much they contribute. Linzie and Jesse are both a manager in making the Ideal Group work. I feel that it is very important to keep your family right by your side.

Christian Perales- DRIVEN

Christian Perales December 1, 2015 DRIVEN             The magazine DRIVEN is a magazine that focuses on the impact that people of different cultures have on an industry.  DRIVEN is not just a magazine made to get someone’s name out or  to bring publicity to a certain thing, but it is a way of giving credit to those where credit is due. When people who start with very little and are able to reach higher, succeed and prosper, they tend to want to help others do the same. DRIVEN is a source to go to for inspiration for success and for wisdom from people inside the successful corporations.             Frank Venegas’ FOREWORD piece in DRIVEN magazine is a strong example of inspiration, the pursuit of a dream and of prosperity. The Venegas story to me is one with a legacy being built one generation at a time. Frank’s grandfather was the starting point of the success story. When his grandparents came from Mexico, his grandfather worked for a dream job of $5 an hour, and after a few y
