its friday

Today at Ideal I started my day by checking my email and seeing if there was anything for me to start on before I headed upstairs. I had no new emails so I went to the project manager’s office and I asked the guys if they had anything for me to do. Steven gave me some POs to hand to Virginia to enter and I gave Burt the delivery papers to check when they had arrived. Afterwards I saw that Amanda was back and I was happy to see her since she was gone for a while.                 After I came back and there wasn’t anything for me to do so I went to the accounting office and I helped Ideal Setech since Kelly was not here today. When lunch came the guys I went out to eat and had a talk about me going to school and working during the summer. I had a lot of choices to think about and also what I wanted to do during the summer. When we came back I went to my desk to finish my work. When my day was coming to an end Amanda, being the helpful person that she is, got me registered for ever

TGIF

Today was a productive day at Ideal. I started off by filing invoices, while I was in the process of filing them, Nick came and we had a meeting about my future and talking about a program that will be beneficial to me. It took us most of the morning talking about it, once we were done talking I got back to work. When I was done filing, Maria had material checks ready, so I went ahead and did them. Lunch came and Maria asked me if I wanted something from Burger King, I told her that I only wanted a shake, since I wasn’t very hungry. Then later Sylvia wanted Perez and I to go with her to the garden to organize plants that they brought. We finished putting plants where they belonged and we went back to Ideal. I continued doing the material checks. When I was done, I gave them to Maria since she’s in charge of them. Few seconds later, Yesi wanted me to do a flyer for picking up dumped tires. So far, my day has been great. Jose Patino

Today, I sat at Jocelyn's desk. I had trouble getting into my email, so I just went upstairs to help, Maria wanted to file some papers. After I finished, she gave me another stack of papers to file. When I finished, I went downstairs and Amanda said that Surplus had some work for me, but for right now do some mailers. I did some mailers and then I started to help Surplus. They wanted me to search items on the internet and to match our prices. I had find the best price and then multiply it by .85. It was pretty tricky because sometimes the items wouldn't show or they had to be the right size and amount. Later Osmara gave me some flyers to hang around the office.   Me and Osmara went home for lunch, when we got back, it was raining and we made a run for it. We got wet but we dried in no time. I continued to do inventory. Later I hang the flyers around the building to make sure people go to the garden. After I finished, I did the mailers and mailed them out.  I went upstairs an
Jacqueline Perez – May 27, 2014              Today has been great. I worked for Setech. I assisted Kelly with matching the check stubs for the check run. I also filed all the invoices that were previously vouchered. After matching them up there was still some checks that need to be matched up, and I looked for those.             For lunch today Sylvia took Chris and I to El Barzon. I had the lasagna which was really good. Overall it was a good day.

Fridays

Today was another good day at Ideal Group. I got started right away when Tony asked me to look for some bid jobs and look at the drawings. After I looked at the drawings I plotted them out and arranged them all. When I had finished, I went to give a copy to the shop and also turned in a new job that had to be released. When I came back, Steven gave me a few things to do like sending the work orders to Virginia. .     When I had finished my work for the morning, the people in the project manager’s office went to Slows. I had a real good Yardbird sandwhich and a side of waffle fries. I was really full when I came back to work but still did all my work with no problems. Afterwards, I went to help Kelly with accounting work and had some laughs with the people in the accounting office. Overall my day went great and I can’t wait to work here all summer.

Today when I got here, I said hi to Alex and Dennis. Alex gave me labels to do. I started to do the labels. Later Osmara came and told me to make some labels for Sylvia. It didn't take too long, I finished in no time. Then, I had to look for some boxes for some papers. Osmara and I organized the papers in the boxes and we put them in Sylvia's car. I continued to do the labels. Then it was time for lunch.   Osmara and I went to Subway for lunch. Sylvia talked about her son and Sean when they were little. She asked me to write about Memorial Day for my blog topic. When we came back, I got back to work. I finished the labels and put them on postcards and mailed them out. The mailers took a lot of my day. Overall my day was fast and proficient.   What is Memorial Day? Memorial day is celebrated  on the last Monday of May to honor those men and women who died for serving the U.S Military. Memorial Day was originally know as Decoration Day and started the years after the Civil

Jacqueline Perez - May 10, 2014

Jacqueline Perez – May 20, 2014             Today I had a very good day. I worked for Setech alongside Kelly. I began my day by filing for Defiance and Warren, which are two of the locations I work with. I sorted the invoices in alphabetical order and then filed them to their correct drawer. For the rest of the day I pulled the checks for the check run. This involves pulling certain invoices from the drawers to match to check stubs.             Today for lunch I had tacos from El Rancho. I ate in the conference room along with volunteers that helped out in the Cadillac Urban Gardens today. I enjoyed meeting and talking to them. Overall it was a wonderful day.

Chris Lara 5-20-14 Who is General Electric; why do they help Michigan? General Electric is a corporation who owns many different businesses inside of itself. GE, simplistically, is a manufacturer, and an investor. General Electric manufactures parts that range from kitchen essentials to energy saving engines. They invest in modern, more proficient technologies, which help them have a lead in the profitable world. One of the many reasons they invest in Michigan is for the job opportunities. According to CBS’s local news station, in 2012, General Electric announced to add 300 jobs to the Van Buren Township Advanced Manufacturing and Software Technology Center. These jobs affect a huge part of Michigan’s economic advancement, and I’m sure these jobs help support families. Also, GE has expanded its summer internships for college students by 25% in Michigan alone, so that would allow students to prepare and receive real life training and experience. DAYS AT IDEAL

So long today started out very good. I came into the project manager's office and the guys were happy to see me after a while. They asked how I was doing and gave me some tasks for the morning. I had to organize all the Skyzone projects into the right folders in our system. After, I went to find some things in the shop that needed to be measured and checked for. When I came back to the office I was asked where I wanted to go to lunch and we decided to go get a burger at Oblivions.   I had a really good time talking about the college I was going to and the things I was going to do during the summer. When I came back to the office I talked to Abel about working on Saturday and he said yes. Sylvia then asked me to go to the garden with her and we both went to check what had to be done. When we went back to Ideal I got a few things done and that was my day.

Friday!

Today was a productive day at Ideal. I started to archive folders for Daniel. Later in the morning, Yesi wanted me to make her two folders, once it was done I continued archiving. Then Loren wanted me to go down stairs to meet a lady. We sat down and talked about an opportunity for me going to a job and also help me pay school. It’s a multi-billionaire company, so that just put it out there that I’ll be working in a great place if I start off working there. When the meeting was done I gave her my information.             Lunch came and I had chips and a juice. When I was done with my lunch, Bob wanted me to make a book, Daniel came and also wanted me to make him a binder for a bid he had going on. I came back to my desk and continued archiving. I was done with two boxes, now I got two left to go. Overall, it was a good day. Jose Patino

In the morning it was pretty slow. They didn't have much work for me. I did some simple tasks. I filed some papers for Contracting. Osmara taught me how to make coffee. Later in the day, Microsoft Outlook was messing up. It's didn't let people send emails. Alex gave me a spreadsheet and told me to put the General Motors employees address. I was disturb a lot. Sometimes they had to use my computer. I went to go use Kelly's computer but it didn't let me access Sylvia's contacts. I went back to my desk and tried to log in but it didn't let me. Osmara signed me into her account and I started to work.   For lunch,  Osmara  and I went to Taco Veloz. Sylvia paid for our lunch which was really nice. I got back to work and started adding addresses. Later Osmara told me, I had to put the Mail Code, so I had to go back. and add them. The rest of my day was steady. I added about 130 addresses to the spreadsheet. My day was  productive.

Jacqueline Perez - May 13, 2014

Jacqueline Perez – May 13, 2014             Today was very interesting and fun. I have been full of energy all day. Today, I worked for Setech and Group. I helped Kelly file, sort and voucher invoices. I also helped Kelly pull the check run, which is pulling invoices from the unpaid drawers and stapling the checks that go with them. I then helped Theresa for Group. I assisted her in looking for tracking slips and distributing mail. I also met some employees from the bank across the street that were really nice.             Today for lunch, I had chicken with a side of macaroni with broccoli. It was really good. After lunch we experienced a very short power outage and it was really frustrating because I was in the middle of pulling for the check run. Besides the power outage, today was great.

Chris Lara 5-13-14 I believe public speaking is a skill that can be mastered with repetition and practice. Recently, I was able to attend a meeting with Father Joe, former principle of Holy Redeemer High School, to discuss the needs of his home, in Detroit. I presented this to a group called “The Dad’s Club” over at Catholic Central, and I had a fun, formal time doing it. Before presenting, I prepared myself with a few tricks I learned from the Ideal Group. One trick I tried was taking notes for each slide, and the house. This allowed my memory to recognize details I would normally forget if I had not taken notes. I also tried to bring a physical copy, but was instead fortunate enough to use a gentleman’s iPad. This worked even better because of the quick transitions between the slides. Also, I noticed that I could barely hear the speakers talk, even when I was sitting in the front row, so I held the microphone closer while annunciation my words. This allowed people to hear

Today was a pretty good day. I sat in Amanda's desk today. Sylvia wanted me to put seeds in half a dozen bags. I did them quickly. Later Sylvia asked me to do another half a dozen bags. When I finished, I went upstairs to help. They had a big stack of papers that needed to be filed. After I finished, I went downstairs and I loaded the dishwasher. Later, I went to check inventory with Alex in the back building. We brought back some stuff we needed. Later Osmara asked me to organize a DACA folder in alphabetical order. After I finished, I helped Maria with some filing and then it was time for lunch.   For lunch, my sister took me to Taco Veloz. Lunch was great and then we went back to Ideal Group. I mailed out a envelope for Sylvia. I took something up to Contracting, I mailed out some more letters too. I changed the binder for the blogs because the old one was full. I helped Osmara with her tasks. I helped her make some DACA folders. My day was great and productive

TGIF

Today went pretty fast if you tell me. I came to Ideal and saw big boxes on my desk, I felt like I was not going to rest today. They wanted me to archive, but before I was thinking to begin, I helped Yesi scan papers to her, then when I was done she wanted me to make three folders. When I was done helping Yesi, Chelsea wanted me to file invoices. Lunch came and I got myself a candy bar and a juice, since I wasn’t that hungry. I began archiving through all afternoon. I managed to finish the big boxes, which were the biggest one, so I was relieved for a moment. Later through out the end of the day, I started to file PDPM and hard dollar folders. Overall, it was a busy day. Jose Patino

Friday Friday

Today was a common day at Ideal Group. I came in and Steve gave me a few things to plot and then Tony showed up. Tony then asked me to sort all the drawings so that it was easier to find what we needed. I then went to print all the new drawings and put them with the old ones so that they can be where they are supposed to go.   After a while Osmara came and asked if I could go with her and Linzie to Cobo hall and help clean up after the event they had.                 Around 11 we headed to Cobo and I had some work to do. I picked up the entire guard rail and the entire handrail and put them in the boxes they belonged in. After a while we were done and we decided to get something to eat. We went to a deli and I had a huge BLT that was to die for. It was fun hanging around with the girls since it has been a while. Overall my day was great and I can’t wait for work tomorrow.

I did them fast. I went to go see Sylvia and asked for some work. She told me to put some seedS in the envelopes. They took awhile, but I finished. I went upstairs to help Ideal Contracting, I met Kelly and Bonnie asked me to file some papers. Later, Osmara came upstairs and told me that when I finish, to go see Amanda. Chris Lara 5-6-14

Chris Lara 5-6-14                 Today, I was able to go with Amanda, Osmara, and Alex to Cobo Hall to set up for the MMSDC trade show on Thursday. I had a fun time setting up and learned what The Ideal Group’s reasoning for attending this huge networking attraction.                 When we arrived, Alex and I were instructed by Amanda on what to take out of our container and where to set up the products. There were many items such as bollard covers, steel handrails, clearance bars, sign holders, and many other accessories including some literature describing our products. We set up our samples and went on to laying out the literature. We used easels for our posters, and there were signs set up on frames. When we were finished, Amanda took us to lunch.                 After lunch, I was able to find out why The Ideal Group and MMSDC participate in this trade show. Amanda’s three main reasons were: networking, business opportunities, and to show our support for MBE companies

Jacqueline Perez - May 6, 2014

Jacqueline Perez – May 6, 2014             Today is the second day I come to work this week because yesterday was my Monday in the rotation. Although I like going to schoo,l I am completely fine with coming to work. I worked for Setech again like yesterday. I filed the paid invoices most of the morning and I finished the statements that had to be looked over. I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. I then vouchered for Definace and Warren the rest of the afternoon.   Vouchering is inputting the information of an invoice into a program called Symix. For the most part today was great.

Jacqueline Perez - May 5, 2014

Jacqueline Perez - May 5, 2014             Work was busy today. I worked for Setech all day and I enjoyed it. I sorted and filed unpaid invoices. I then assisted Kelly with following up on the invoices yet to be received. I emailed each vendor and requested copies of their invoices. After I completed that task, I had to look at statements and verify what invoices we have. For lunch I had Red Robin for the first time and it was really good. Today I also had a meeting for Cadillac Urban Garden. I believe we now have more things settled on what will happen in the future for the garden.   For the most part today has been a good day.

Busy Friday

Today was a busy day at Ideal. I started to file invoices from last week, since I didn’t get to them. When I was done, they wanted me to teach Kellie how to do the mail. I tried my best to explain it to her easy enough, so lets see how she does next time. When I was done with my task I started to archive Julie’s folders.   Lunch came and I only had chips and a juice, since I wasn’t that hungry. I continued archiving until Yesi came and wanted me to move boxes to another room. Dave and Yesi were swapping desk so I was back and forward helping them with there desktop. When I was done helping, Yesi then, wanted me to scan papers to her, I had a meeting, so I was trying to make it quick. Once I was done, Dan wanted me to put folders into a box and archive it. Then Amanda came from me to go downstairs at Frank’s office. There were people visiting the building and we had to present myself with the other Jose. Then we went into the hall and Frank was telling them about the company and ho

Today went by very fast at Ideal Group. I started my day working with Chris and plotting out some drawings.   It wasn’t until Steve had me take down some drawings for Daifuku so the shop could work on them. I headed downstairs and left the drawings on Abels desk since he wasn’t here.   I then asked Eddy if we were working tomorrow.             For lunch Amanda and I went to Green Dots and had an interesting conversation about my future and school. It was nice catching up and just have a good talk with a good friend. When I got back to Ideal Chris and I went down to the shop             We had to count all the Nike post for a job one by one. It was an easy task but took a while to do. I had a meeting right after and met with a few people that came all the way from New York. It was nice meeting them and seeing the ideas that they had. My day went by fast and I overall, had a nice day.
