5~15~14 : A Garden of Kids

When I walked into Ideal today I was happy to start my day. I passed my key through the gates and went into the building. I saw Amanda at her desk and greeted her. She told me that I wasn’t going to be using my normal desk because Osmara was going to be in shortly. I walked down the hall to Marketing and set up at a computer there.  I turned on my computer and was ready for the day.
I logged onto the computer and checked my email. I had many messages but most of them were from other co-workers sending me notifications. These notifications were not important to my but I still went through them. Then Sylvia came in and told me what I’m going to do in the morning. She advised me that the students from the University Preparatory Academy were coming to Cadillac Urban Gardens at 9:00. After, she gave me a list of names and had me label some envelopes for mailing. I was having some trouble with looking these names up but I worked everything out and things were resolved. I got all the envelopes ready and sent them to the mail box.
After all the mailings, Sylvia drove me to the garden and met with Sarah Clark. We all talked about the tasks that were to be completed by the students and how we should complete them. She gave us instructions and left. Then, the students arrived and Sarah got everyone moving. I took a team with me to fill up some bins with dirt. The orders for these bins were: one wheelbarrow of rough compost and four wheelbarrows of top soil. I had my team fill up the wheel barrows with the correct material and tackled those bins. I organized my team to the most productive arrangement but some of the students were not doing so well. I had to get them in shape to complete this task. The job was harder than it looked but we did our best. I had a very hard working team and I was very proud of them.
When it was time for the students to leave I escorted them out. After I waved ‘goodbye’ I went back to the table and helped out Sarah pick up the tools. I was very tired but I knew that our work paid off. Then Sarah told me thatched had to make a quick stop to one of the local residents. She wanted to ask the owner of a lot if we can place a dumpster in his property. I was there to translate if it was needed. We couldn’t find the owner so she drove me back to Ideal.
When I entered Ideal I sat down at my desk and changed out of my work clothes. I then sat at my desk and worked on some other tasks. I was finished and went to ask Accounting if they needed any help but Jenifer said she was fine. I went back to my desk and Sylvia called me. I went to her and she gave me a short list of things to do. I was going to ask some people around the building some questions, make a spreadsheet, and call a local restaurant for a price check.
I left to ask some people the questions I had and then went on to calling the restaurant. The people at the restaurant were giving me a hard time but I don’t get mad very easily. I completed my call and sent Sylvia my information. Then I went on making the spreadsheet.
I completed the day with new information in my head and another smile on my face.
